@@CosmicRider007 Supersonic probably not, would waste a lot of resources for that large scale. That's why we only have seen much smaller aircraft go supersonic, and even the Boom Overture will be smaller than the Concorde. I'm just saying, even though it will be an An-225 replacing it, it still won't be the same as for 33 years, the one that did get destroyed was the only one to exist to make history, and the new one is only being built to replace it. This is terrible! This plane is special and it can hold more than the Lockheed C5 Galaxy, and with a cargo hold that's capable of holding a Union Pacific Bigboy inside. This plane was also a more successful model compared to the Howard Hughes H-4 Hercules. If the Howard Hughes H4 was more successful to the Antonov 225, it will be an American replacement for this loss. The 225 will always have a soft spot in my heart even though I'm not too much into planes than trains, but this plane is big enough to transport a diesel locomotive, but that will be too heavy to get it in the air. Oh well, hopefully when this war is over, we can develop a stronger version of this transporting legend and modernize it a bit as well.

as yoda said "there is another" well it shouldnt take long to build another, they do have a 2nd an225 that they partial built 65% completed, has been in storage for like 20 years
@ns4270railfan2 жыл бұрын
@@thabg007 20 years of storing the other Antonov that was in the process of being built, but only 65% done, wow I wonder what they had been waiting for all this time. Well, at least with the other bout 65% done, they should focus on completing the second aircraft instead of trying to rebuild the original since it will take about 3 billion dollars. They might be able to save quite a few to just complete the second plane. That might be more feasible.

@@ns4270railfan the an225 was created for the Soviet space program in the 1980’s, they took an an124, extended the wingspan and fuselage then added 2 more turbofan engines, then made the tail double instead of single, to carry the space shuttle, they were in the process of making a second an225, but when the Soviet Union fell n 1991 the space program was canceled sometime later, so the an225 went into storage, and the 2nd an225 construction was stopped at 65% completion, years later they decided to repurpose the an225 as a cargo plane for hire

The cargo plane was so beautiful and incredible to watch because of its size I can imagine how much it will cost to restore. Ukraine will prevail in this war.
@FoxLosst2 жыл бұрын
I genuinely don't understand why they did that. The aircraft was grounded and at an airfield that they easily took over. Why did the soldiers start a fire and destroy it when it was just sitting there when they could have captured the world's largest cargo aircraft, which would be great for the Russian Airforce. They have plans to restore it, but I think they should revamp it to be the largest, most heavily armed military aircraft in use to blow the Russians away

It is sad to see one of the last great engineering achievements by the former Soviets has been destroyed. Ironically by the same people who built it. Nothing like seeing a nation implode the values they once held and made them mighty in the first place.
