The young suspect in the Oxford, Michigan, school shooting has been charged with terrorism and first-degree murder. Although he is 15 years old, he is being charged as an adult. Ethan Crumbley was arraigned Wednesday on four counts of murder. His father reportedly bought the gun used in the shootings - a 9mm Sig Sauer - just last Friday. The teen posted a photo of the weapon with the caption, “Just got my new beauty today.” Classmate Isaac Fantich said that Crumbley often looked “depressed.”

Officers should hold these exercises at schools regularly, as a means to test students’ preparedness for a potential shooter. Here’s how such an exercise would go: an undercover officer announces himself at the door, talks casually, but not exaggerate it. Then students will be evaluated on their response. I think the officer was trying to use familiar/casual language as a way to level with the kids/come off less intimidating/non threatening.. A lot of officers actually do this in the field because it helps create rapport, also using informal language like that is a common method of de-escalstion and reassurance.. Unfortunately an active shooting scenario with terrified kids who cannot see who is on the other side of the door is obviously not the right time to try that out.

His mugshot looks like another Aiden Fucci. They don't want the son to look like another Satanist lunatic, so they use an old photo in order for the public to show mercy.

Imagine as a parent hearing about a school shooting going on and scarred/worried for your child and waiting to see him come out of school, but your kid is the shooter

sometimes adults use informal conversation patterns to match the age or intelligence of the people they talk to. he probably underestimated the students ability to analyze risk factors through speech. thinking they were probably just scared and wanting to hear someone say it was safe. or he could just be a guy who uses the term bro a lot. either way the kids were impressive
