Tbh this one hurts cuz he did reach out for help. But his parents got him a gun instead. And the school district ignored the teacher who brought his cries for help to their attention. I can tell he's not a total monster. Just mentally ill and lost and failed by every adult around him. He could have been helped and those kids would not have lost their lives if appropriate actions had been taken. This case hurts my heart. I don't condone his actions or excuse what he did. Parents should be held accountable if they recklessly allow their child access to a dangerous weapon, but what about all the cases previous to this or no doubt all the cases still to come, is it just this case where the parents will be made an example of? If so it hardly seems fair, justice is about consistency

sad for both sides. hopefully those with lost ones heal over time in a positive manner and not hold a grudge of bitterness. It will just eat the soul slowly away if no neutralizing action is taken, such as forgiveness, letting go, helping others, attending meetings, revenge etc.

Unpopular opinion: it wasnt his fault. he was mentally ill, asked his counselor for help who ignored him, then asked his parents for help and they bought him a GUN??? This could have all been avoided if anyone took his concerns seriously and got him the help he needed. instead the parents bought him a gun KNOWING he was mentally unstable. i blame this entirely on the parents and the parents alone.

I don’t forgive him; nor his actions; but I will say, he knows his actions now that 3 years has passed. He pleaded for his sentence not only for the victims safety; but also his own. He’s not expecting anyone to forgive him; they have no reason to but considering how he as reflected. I can see him using his experience to better understand the mentality of shooters. Even behind bars. Hopefully he shows as an example on how even after comiting an act; the scars never fade; this is why.

What he did was terrible. How teens treat each other in high school id also terrible. I'm sure they were all laughing and making fun him, I'm sure all of that will be repressed after the even of murder. No one wants to talk about the cruelty of high school and how humiliating those students can treat each other. Murder gives bullies a free pass the second it happens, but people don't like to talk about all the events that lead up to this kind of situation. You act like all these people were singing songs and doing crafts like perfect little angels and were just murdered in cold blood for all the kindness and respect they showed each day, i doubt that was the case. Either way murder is bad, but dont act like he just couldnt take all the kindness he was getting and snapped for no reason, no way thats how it went down, but no one wants to talk about that.

Not only should he have said what he said to the families but should’ve said something to the rest of the state. I was a senior the year this happened and I remember practically every school in the state receiving some sort of threat and it was to the point where my school recorded its lowest attendance ever on a regular school day. Not counting half days and days before breaks. The day after when I got to school the parking lot is usually pretty full and it was practically empty. It was a scary time considering my school is about a 40-50 minute drive from Oxford high school. And I’m not trying to justify my fear because obviously I wasn’t there but it was scary seeing hardly anyone there and even tho nothing ended up happening it was better to be cautious
