Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley was sentenced to life without parole for the deadly shooting at Oxford High School in 2021. At his sentencing hearing, Crumbley faced his victims and their family members. His parents were not in court to hear their son's sentencing. They face involuntary manslaughter charges. Prosecutors say they bought the gun for their son for Christmas even though they knew he was deeply troubled. James and Jennifer Crumbley have pled not guilty and are jailed while they await trial.

Tbh this one hurts cuz he did reach out for help. But his parents got him a gun instead. And the school district ignored the teacher who brought his cries for help to their attention. I can tell he's not a total monster. Just mentally ill and lost and failed by every adult around him. He could have been helped and those kids would not have lost their lives if appropriate actions had been taken. This case hurts my heart. I don't condone his actions or excuse what he did. But he should have been helped... Not given a gun for Christmas!

Honestly makes me question the intention of his parents. They might have bought the gun thinking he would turn it on himself as they were awful parents and couldn’t deal with his mental illness. Very sad story

@@vxy357being mentally ill doesn’t excuse a monstrous act and yes he his guilty of it 100%. However, this monstrous act could’ve also been 100% prevented. This kid called out for help and no one came to his aid including his own parents. His parents, the school system, and overall society failed this kid and everyone single one of the victims and their families. Had his cries for help been addressed and treated, that shooting would’ve NEVER happened and everyone, EVERYONE would still be alive! He was the one to pull the trigger no doubt about that… But everyone he reached out to and ignored the signs should be right there beside him in chains and have the book thrown at ALL of them. Our system from “tHe GrEaTeSt cOuNtRy iN ThE wOrLd” failed EVERYONE in this tragic event. So before you label him a monster and put all the blame with him, why don’t you think about the people who could’ve PREVENTED this monster from committing this evil act when they had the power. Our system is broken and this tragic event proves it.

My father bought my older brother some sort of shotgun when he was around 15 for his birthday. They went hunting together often though and when they were not hunting together the gun was kept locked up in a gun safe. It’s not that act in itself that’s a problem. It’s that he didn’t hunt and had no reason to have a gun other than what he used it for. Also he was horribly troubled and there were so many signs this would happen. I believe the parents will get justice as well.
