Disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding threatened to walk out of an interview with British TV presenter Piers Morgan after he pressed her on the 1994 attack on rival Nancy Kerrigan. "I appreciate being on your show, but I think I'm going to have to say, 'Have a good night,''' Harding, 47, said Tuesday in a satellite hookup between her hometown of Portland, Ore., and the London studios of ‘Good Morning Britain.’ Harding's appearance was intended to promote the new biopic, ‘I, Tonya.’ #InsideEdition

I can understand her frustration. She can't go anywhere or do anything without people bringing up the Nancy Kerrigan scandal. My personal feeling is that she had nothing to do with what her crappy ex-husband did. Tonya was a far better skater than Nancy, she had no reason to sabotage her. The irony of Tonya's ex husband doing what he did is that if he HADN'T, Tonya would have EASILY won. Instead of insuring Tonya's future, he destroyed it.

1. "she can't go anywhere or do anything without people bringing up the Nancy Kerrigan scandal" Tonya Harding created the Nancy Kerrigan scandal, and she is now voluntarily promoting a movie about her involvement in the Nancy Kerrigan scandal. Tonya brought it up. 2. "my personal feeling is that she had nothing to do with what her crappy ex-husband did" despite your personal feeling, well documented facts posit that Tonya had pretty much everything to do with the assault on Nancy Kerrigan. 3. "Tonya was a far better skater than Nancy, she had no reason to sabotage her" In the 1994 olympics, following the attack, Nancy Kerrigan won the silver medal (despite being assaulted and injured). Tonya placed eighth. 4. "The irony of Tonya's ex husband doing what he did is that if he HADN'T, Tonya would have EASILY won" Again, both women were still able to compete in the olympics following the incident, where Nancy Kerrigan won the silver medal, and Tonya placed eighth. My advice--don't let feelings get in the way of facts. Hollywood's version of events do not coincide with reality. Don't just take my word for it. Do your research.

Obviously PARTLY about the incident, but I'm not saying that the movie didn't pertain to it at all. I'm just saying she's tired of being accused at every turn. Maybe she orchestrated the attack. Maybe she didn't. But that was YEARS ago, it was handled, and I think she just wants to be done with that part of her life. It would be like if someone committed a crime (not a terrible one), served time or "paid their debt to society" and then constantly had to deal with it it being thrown in their face YEARS after the fact. There's no concrete evidence that she was or wasn't responsible. To this day, its all speculation. We'll probably never definitively know. I haven't actually seen the movie yet, but based on trailers, it almost looks comedic.

@@erictyson5947 That's not what Nancy says. In an interview just following the Olympics in 1994, Nancy used the word "flawless" to describe her Olympic performance, and when asked whether the injury to her leg had made any difference, she replied, "No." She said that due to the injury, she had worked even harder and was in better shape than she had ever been in her life. I tried posting the link, but I don't think it went through. Just type in: "February 26, 1994 Nancy Kerrigan on her silver medal at the Winter Olympics" to view the short interview with Nancy in her own words, right on KZbin.

@@hollyjolly2066 Nancy said that athletes perform in pain all the time, it's part of the job. She did not say her knee didn't hurt at all. Furthermore, this doesn't matter anymore, it was 25 years ago and the outcome was Tonya getting charged with the crime she was involved in. There's nothing left to debate about it. If Tonya is still bitter all these years later that's her own problem. Nancys Olympic performance was flawless as in she didn't fall or make any mistakes, it just wasn't very graceful like she usually skates so Oksana put on the better show that year. If Nancy had been able to perform at full peak efficiency she would have won gold. Nancy knows she deserved that gold medal but didn't make a big deal about it cuz that's what someone with class does unlike Tonya Harding.

@@erictyson5947 Did you read what I wrote, and did you watch the interview? It's only 2 or 3 minutes. Nancy, in her own words, said the injury to her leg made NO difference, and that she had never been in better shape in her life. So the injury did NOT hinder her performance at the Olympics, according to her, and if anything, it actually helped, as she said she had worked even harder because of it. So without that, maybe she would only have gotten bronze or not even medalled at all.

I find it hard to believe that her boyfriend decided on his own, without any encouragement from her, to commit a felonious assault that he knew would get worldwide attention just so her main competitor wouldn't make it to the Olympics. Ummm....Tonya was going to be prosecuted for conspiring to commit second degree assault if she didn't go with a guilty plea of impeding the investigation after the fact. She's guilty as sin. Why would she even impede the investigation after the fact? What moral person would do that? Especially to her "friend" and athletic competitor. She continues to hide the truth. I have zero sympathy for her and I am judging her. In fact, I think she's worse than what people think. I think her conspiring to commit the crime against Nancy wasn't even about wanting to win. It was pure jealousy, hatred and wanting to destroy Nancy.

Oh good lord...Nancy's body was not shattered. She bruised her knee and was back on the ice within a few weeks. Nancy actually benefited from the attack. She got silver in the Olympics and recieved all kinds of promotions and endorsements and made millions of dollars. And she acted very ungrateful and was awful to other skaters. She was also having an affair with her married coach. She didn't deserve to be attacked, but she got national recognition and made a fortune because of it. Tonya lost everything. EVERYTHING. she didn't even make that much off of the movie. I do not feel at all sorry for Kerrigan.

Whiplashd I agree to a certain degree that truth is important but she deserves some respect as a human being. The attack happened in the early-mid 1990's, her career has been ruined by the media, and she has openly spoken about it at the relevant times. Piers was there to ask questions in order to speak pleasantly with Tonya to aid her in promoting the film, not for him to take on the role of a private investigator and pressure her for an answer unrelated to the majority of the movie. It was unprofessional in terms of the hidden agenda of it, which was to hurt her, and the tone in which it was said. Tonya was polite in her response which Piers frankly didn't deserve. Also I would like to see any evidence that she is going to make a decent amount of money for the film as I do not know.

She isn't disgraced. Tonya Harding is a strong person who came through what few people could have endured. Kerrigan was wealthy, went back to her dysfunctional family and married her creepy manager that she was sleeping with during the Olympics. I think we need to get over the childish hatred of Tonya and the crazy over-sympathetic view of Kerrigan who ended up bringing home a silver medal. Geez the childish hatred of Harding has become a symptom of a really, really sick society.

What the hell does Nancy Kerrigan's wealth have to do with anything at all……She didn't deserve to be kneecapped because her family is wealthy…..and Tonya harding isn't innocent because she grew up poor…..As far as dysfunctional families go, THEY BOTH CAME FROM DYSFUNCTIONAL SITUATIONS……Why fault Nancy for her family situation but call Tonya "strong"? Your comment is beyond unfair…..By the way, the "creepy manager" as you callously refer to him, has stood by his wife of 22 YEARS AND HELPED HER THROUGH SIX MISCARRIAGES AMONG OTHER THINGS…….I THINK YOU NEED TO TAKE YOUR OWN ADVICE AND STOP QUALIFYING TONYA FOR SAINTHOOD AND HAVING AN OVERLY SYMPATHETIC VIEW OF HER…….WHILE VILIFYING NANCY THE VICTIM IN THE ATTACK, SIMPLY BECAUSE SHE COMES FROM A WEALTHY FAMILY…..NANCY HAS NOT ATTACKED TONYA AT ALL SO WHY ATTACK HER OR HER FAMILY?

What I see is somebody who's responding to some nonsense with a well thought out reaction . It's a reaction- or response - that she was most likely prepared for by doing a great deal of work on herself- maybe with therapy or maybe with a great deal of self reflection. I see somebody who was mostly likely taught to compromise herself and who has learned not to do that anymore. I see somebody authentic- who, at a pretty advanced, age completely kicked ass and did some insane moves and stunts on "Dancing With The Stars." I see somebody who is likable and warm.

YOR FACE I believe the movie was more about Tonya's life through the ages of 15-44. It does share various perspectives in the movie on events that take place throughout her life but no, it does not focus on the 'incident'. If you want to hear her talk about the incident then you can feel free to look up videos of her doing so (you know, relevant to the time when it actually took place). This, however was to promote the movie 'I, Tonya.' and thus for Piers Morgan to bring up something from the past in order to generate a response from her was insensitive and unprofessional. She did not sign up to answer these questions and I would like to see any evidence of her doing so if you have any.
