THANK YOU!! I'm starting to think none of these people actually saw the video of her when she was assaulted. Her screams are gutwrenching, this wasn't some random attack...it was a methodical attack on her by her competition. Thats something most people will *never* get over, the idea of someone you saw consistently plotting to bring you serious bodily harm. The fact she was able to heal and continue her career was a *MIRCALE* against all odds.

I’m sympathetic to both women. People need to stop acting like they need to choose sides. You can feel for tonya and all of her hardships growing up and during her marriage without making it seem like Nancy is over dramatic for being attacked. Even if she didn’t break anything, it is still scary to be attacked at practice. That’s not something you just “get over”. They have both been victimized and people need to not pit these two women against each other. They’ve been compared since being on their Olympic teams, they don’t need that right now as adults who have matured

You’re a victim up until you victimize someone else. Tonya only deserved sympathy up until she conspired against her skating mate. She could’ve told her to be careful, she could’ve told a coach, made an anonymous phone call to police but she just stood by and let it happen. If a child/teen is raped we feel sorry for them but once they rape another child when they become an adult we no longer look at them as victims or survivors; this is that she was a victim until she victimized someone else. Also you can never forget trauma, she could’ve never been attacked before and had a great childhood, a big change like that would rattle anyone, she can speak up on her pain for the situation as long as she wants.

Oh stfu. Everyone on Earth knows that she was the mastermind behind the attack. It's so easy to spot a liar. She failed the lie detector test, and Jeff Gillooly passed his lie detector test---->his accusation that his ex-wife Tonya Harding had a hand in the plot to attack Nancy. He passed, Tonya failed. But never mind the test, all of her blatant lying was blurted out impulsively in complete Tonya Harding fashion when she was caught out in something. Her bullshit answers to questions which she couldn't answer were laughable and so obviously made up. Everything she said were typical answers that women make when they're lying. Like: "Oh I couldn't report Jeff because he threatened to kill me." Do you know how many guilty women have used that one? It's a statement innocent people never use. I mean, come on!

I disagree about Tonya not being remembered. Tonya was the first American woman to ever land the triple axel. To this day, only twelve women have done so, and Tonya's 3A was unarguably one of the highest in height, and she landed two in a single competition. Figure skating fans know that even men struggle with triple axels. When you mention figure skating, everyone knows Tonya Harding for her skating aside from the attack, but people barely know Kerrigan aside from being the victim.

Offtopic but.. also the footage after the attack shows how Nancy starts to yell WHYYY WHYYYY WHYYY-AAAI after she sees that shes being filmed.. Overacting on its finest. Luckily she ended up only getting couple bruises and was able to skate weeks after that. Her attitude when she lost to 9 years younger Oksana at the ceremony was also childish and really shows her true colors.. Imo.

Here's a story about Nancy Kerrigan that I had almost forgotten. After the Olympics where the career progression for the best skaters (usually medal winners) is to sign a contract with the Ice Capades and do shows where they skate and frolic with all the Disney characters - Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Snow White and the like, Nancy was riding in a parade with one or more of those characters at Walt Disney World, when she was caught on camera saying, ' *This is corny, so dumb, I hate it* .' Disney was paying her about $2 million to promote their brand. She's not the smartest girl I thought at the time.

@@lammarea7567 I totally agree. Gold is really what everyone is working for and the difference between gold and silver is huge. To work so hard and dedicate your life to earning gold then getting so close but coming up short is enough to make you a bit disappointed. Then you factor in the attack and the media storm and her reaction is totally reasonable. However if Tonya did the exact same thing her fans would be like, “She’s so real. Not giving any phony smiles. That’s why I love her!” People seem to need to understand things in a good vs. evil binary. That's not a sincere apology. That's an excuse. She should have just stopped at "Nancy, I want to apologize." Or simply say, I'm sorry. Period. She never did. Why? Because, we now know that she heard what was going to happen. That she actually called the ice rink to see if Nancy was there at the time. And she also pleaded to covering up after the fact. She changes her story every time she opens her mouth. Let's be real, she's not sorry.

Also, just to be certain that I hadn't recalled incorrectly, I searched for those recorded apologies and found a couple of interviews wherein she did, indeed, apologize.... Nancy Kerrigan did not deserve what happened to her, at all. I also believe, wholeheartedly, that Tonya Harding did not deserve the judgement and contempt that ensued following this event either. It is possible that I have a soft spot for miss Harding, for the backlash that followed the attack, but it became clear to me at the time, and afterwards, that there was no involvement on her part. If u don’t know what happened, a young skater only 16 years old won the olympics but Nancy came in second and started mocking and talking behind the winners back because she was crying (because she lost her parents and felt overwhelmed by having little support, being only a teenager and winning the olympics)

Vincent Cuttolo (if Nancy dont want to accept any type of apology from Tonya,oh well..but Tonya also dont need to have to feel obligated to Nancy either) even tho Tonya and Nancy are gonna have this scandal attached to them, whether they like it or not, which obviously must suck for them, but it happened..but it still looks like Nancy hasn't forgave Tonya(on something she didn't even do)..which was my point of her to just forgive and forget.. but since it won't be the last time somebody asks them about that whole incident/scandal,it must be hard to forget when your being reminded of that damn scandal your whole life, but Tonya got it way harder(why kick somebody that's already down)and just let go of any ill will towards each other, that was long long time ago.. I always felt bad for Tonya, becuz it must of been way harder on her to have to deal with all the media, people and her name and career being tarnished over something she was 'allegedly' apart of,and for her to be banned from something she absolutely loved doing and was very talented at,which was to skate.. we don't know what exactly happened, but Nancy came out fine(I'm talking about her life long after the incident)compared to Tonya..which this scandal obviously had a huge negative effect on her life.. people were quick to hate on Tonya without even knowing what the heck even happened.. but glad Tonya got to have a movie on her perspective side of the story and what she's been through..

I honestly feel bad for both of them. Both of their careers were ruined. I think Nancy's mistake is not being able to forgive, which I understand is hard but people have forgiven others for much worse and being able to forgive shows how strong you are. I feel bad for Tonya but the only problem I have with her is that she changed her story when she was questioned again and said she knew what it had happened after it was done, and didn't say anything. I understand that, but she should have just come clean because then no one would have a reason to suspect anything.

This documentary was on SBS the other night and I watched. I'm so glad I got to . Young new mum with enough of my own problems, to only just heard about it, but didn't know, what the true characters and sequences were. Gosh it was the best thing I have watched for ages ! Such an interesting documentary. And, so inspiring. Rolls are not ice blades, but, it still has the same parallels, skating on wheels. When I am street skating, it is the only time that I feel : pain managed, in control, functional, powerful, all the synapses in my brain and body firing accurately, truly fit, fun and free. It's why I do it of course. For I love feeling like I'm, like everyone else who is exercising. A part of the participants in life. Normal outdoor recreation pursuing..a healthy and active, being. And naturally gravitate towards Tonya, because, her background, upbringing, her escape talent, when she confided about that costume making story, Tonya designed and made herself, in the hot pink, and bejewelled, (which it was hideous Tonya) and the events organisation female attendant said to her : don't you ever, ever, wear something like that at these championship's again, or, you're done ! ! It, really shows how, the wrong side of the tracks public image limited , and all the petty nastiness, which, is, how it goes at an Olympic level. How tough is Tonya ? I love that trait. Nancy does deserve a direct apology. I think she's tough enough, to just, finish the landing on her triple axle, nicely, irrespective of past, with regards to today's times, and give Nancy a direct, eye to eye, face to face, apology to Nancy. For sure. But God, I just wanted to say, what an inspiring, and incredible documentary true story, to watch. Tonya was the first, first to perform the triple axle jump.

She only withheld the knowledge that it was her husband, because she only found out after the attack and was afraid, since she was in a toxic and abusive relationship with her husband.
