Video Of Whale Appearing To Bang Head on Metal Gate Is Causing Outrage

Animal activists are outraged over a video they say shows a killer whale in captivity banging its head against a gate. The Dolphin Project released video of what they say depicts an orca "panicking." The footage was taken by an anonymous visitor at Loro Parque, a top tourist attraction in Tenerife, Spain. It shows Morgan the killer whale, who is owned by SeaWorld, inside a medical tank where she forcefully hits the barrier that separates her and a larger tank that normally houses the orcas. #InsideEdition

this reminds me of the story of hugo, an orca that literally committed suicide. It had a tank that was so so so so SO small it was like a hamster cage to him. That whale was forced to preform shows for over 10 years. Hugo always slammed his head against the concrete which led to brain damage i think it was, but it messed up his brain and killed him. He committed suicide. And they disposed of his body in a dump. Just think of that for a little bit.

Every time I see one of these videos I feel guilty to the point of tears for every time I went to Marine World, Sea World and every other World or zoo that keeps any beautiful magnificent animals in prison. I hate that it was my favorite past time as a kid. I know there’s been talks about cordoning off large separate sections of the ocean for captive and/or injured orcas, dolphins, belugas, etc to live out the rest of their lives peacefully and in their natural habitat. A panic attack is much more severe. I've had panic attacks, not fun, but this is also a sign of a frustrated animal being in captivity. She would be freaking out more if it were a panic attack. She does agree that they should not be in captivity, and where this animal is being kept doesn't give her room for swimming, which they do 95% of the time in the wild.

I completely believe Parks such as SeaWorld truly do provide the care and love for all of there animals but when I see stuff like this it reminds me that captivity of marine animals should be small creatures such as sting rays or small sharks. Dolphins and whales do not belong in a tank. Captivity of such large, intelligent creatures is not the way about saving a natural population. @@lumino8852 I think they unintentionally harm themselves to the point where they die but I think they think there water everywhere and if they break out they'll be free to swim away. I think they want to go home and I think they think if they keep breaking down walls they'll be free to travel I don't think they realize the water stops at the pool edge that's see through I think they think there's water in the other side sometimes to be free

as someone who stands with SeaWorld and many parks that have orcas SeaWorld know that morgan or any orca should not be held in the medical pool for a long period of time, it is called the medical pool for a reason it is for medical checkups only the pool is small and shallow and I am outraged to hear that morgan was treated like this SeaWorld knows what they dd wrong and so do we all

This is exactly how another poor baby died in captivity. It eventually caused a brain aneurism and death. Find these beautiful whales in the wild and watch them there. They’re much more at peace in their own home. Shame on those who support and pay money to watch them suffer here. We need to shut these places down

Usamiio uMm I am 100% it is true, and videos on KZbin that show her rescue prove my point. Morgan is deaf and being a deaf orca is a very hard life because they use their echo location to find food. If she wasn’t rescued she would have died in the wild.

Let’s just be honest here, orcas never belonged in captivity. It’s a thing with some people, or in everyone, it’s all about owning the fastest and fanciest car, making the coolest phones, the best air travel experience, or owning the biggest and coolest pet, we capitalize so much and this is the result, it’s not really a trend but a natural habit that is nearly impossible to break.
