They're calling this man "SuperDad" after he saved his son from possibly drowning in a pool. Albert Passavanti didn't hesitate when he saw his 1-year-old son, Rocco, fall into the pool. He leaped over a safety fence and into the pool to rescue his baby boy. Passavanti told Inside Edition that his son was in the water for a few seconds, but it was still scary. "You have got to get to him as quickly as you possibly can," he said. "You just absolutely have to keep an eye on your kids. I don’t care what measures you have in place." #InsideEdition

When I was 18 months old I just walked into a pool. We were visiting friends who had a pool. My dad was leisurely doing the side stroke at the time and saw me so headed towards the side of the pool even though he didn't think I would walk in. I did without even a pause. Thankfully he was close enough to immediately catch me. Never assume anything when it comes to small children.

You’re not kidding. One night, when my son was five, I caught my son when he fell down the steps. All I remember is standing in front of my television, then hearing him stumble at the top of the steps. The next thing I remember is holding him halfway up the steps, after I caught him. For the life of me I cannot recall getting from the television to the stairs, nor do I remember actually catching him. My son, who’s now 10, will occasionally bring it up and ask what I was thinking when it happened. I’ll tell him that I have no recollection of what was going through my head at that moment. That had to have been the fastest I ever moved in my life. So, yeah, that adrenaline rush is no joke at all.

I think it’s more impressive that he jumped over and got to his son sooner than running around and going through the gate. The baby is small, and I’m assuming the baby did not think that he’d suddenly not be able to breathe and could swallow and breathe in a lot of water. The extra second or two for the dad to run around that gate, jump in and get to the kid could be enough time for the baby to swallow too much water for his little lung capacity

It's completely asinine to think you have to experience something to learn from it. That's like saying they have to get knocked up as a teens to know that that having sex so early or at least unprotected isn't a good idea. If you raise kids with that mindset then what about when they become adults or make really grave decisions? You don't have to meet in an accident to know that drinking and driving isn't a good idea. True wisdom is being able to learn from the mistakes of others.

This shouldn't be considered heroic. This is simple fatherly love and paternal instinct. You see your offspring in danger, and all sense of self goes out the window and all you can see is the child. I don't even have kids but I have 2 nephews who I adore like my own, and have worked with children with disabilities for years. I've run into streets to grab kindergartners with ASD who suddenly took off from the playground (I complained about no freaking fence between this busy road and the PLAYGROUND so many damn times!!!), I've jumped fences into marshland behind the same damn school, I've gotten between my nephew and 3 angry pitbulls who leapt out of a truck and tried to maul him, picking him up and screaming for help as they growled and snapped at my legs until the owner came...does any of this make me a hero? Not a chance. It makes me a human being with maternal instinct and love. If I saw a child in danger in the future, I would 100% risk my own life to save theirs. Not a moment of hesitation. This is just a dad, being a dad. This shouldn't be news.

What an awesome dad. Same thing happened to me when I was 3 at a public pool. I was trying to grab a ‘Shrek’ beach ball (summer of 2006) that was on the other side of the stair railing and it slipped out from underneath me. I ended up diving in head first and seeing how blue the water was from the chlorine, then my dad dove in and hauled me out. This is truly a core memory for me, which I carry with me to this day. And even though my dad’s passed on now, this is one of the many memories that reminds me of why I called him, “Superdaddy” all of my childhood.
