There’s no dog “for free” at least in the area where I live. You have to pay an adoption fee that runs from $250 -900. Also some rescues don’t let you adopt dogs if you rent or don’t have a backyard. I tried to adopt a dog for almost a year.

I don't believe so at all. They found him a loving home at the end of it all. And I'm sure the woman who ended up with him didn't have to pay $900 for him like they did. So essentially they bought him, and gave him to his forever family. Not messed up at all if you think about it. If anything they probably saved him, from either sitting in a cage for however long until someone adopts him, or from a person who planned to purchase him as an accessory as opposed to a loving, caring home.

It's very understandable to have a breed preference, or to get upset when a dog you spent a lot on wasn't what you wanted. If we applied this on something that wasn't alive, it would be considered false advertising, which is illegal. All that aside, getting rid of that dog for this reason alone is quite unethical. I think we can all agree on that. They didn't abuse their dog, just gave it away, which is the best thing they could have done to be honest. So basically it's a ''what can you do'' sort of situation. It was a selfish choice but things turned out fine for the dog, and that's all that matters.

loving a certain breed isn't necessarily a bad thing. I love pit Bulls and love the breed but I currently have a weimaraner/ lab mix. certain breeds give off certain characteristics and traits especially in working breeds. someone wanting a guard dog or cattle dog isn't necessarily going to want a poodle, chihuahua or springer spaniel. Energy wise as well. I love all dogs but just because someone chooses a purebred doesn't mean they don't look at personality or the dogs have different personalities.
