Deanna it’s easier said than done. Humans always expect more than they have. And to suffer a huge gradient like that in front of millions just hurt. Ms Philippines must have felt a burst of joy when she found out she was the real winner, let’s say 1000 units of happiness While this is happening Ms Columbia’s heart literally dropped when she realised she wasn’t first place after being crowned first place. Let’s say 1000 units of sadness The drop is so dramatic and it’s amplified by the fact that thousands of audiences were there to witness this. So definitely saw where she’s coming from, but of course it’s not an excuse for her saltiness towards Ms Philippines. So in my opinion, I can’t really hate on either of them. Ultimately it was the emcee’s fault.

Actually, Steve did not announce Miss Phils as First Runner up after announcing Colombia. Pia just went to back part of the stage willingly after embracing Ariadna. If Pia was really 1st runner up, Steve should have announced it but he didnt coz that is when he realized the mistake.

That's why I think they need to go back to announcing the first runner up then the winner. The names on the card were listed as 2nd runner up then first runner up then Miss Universe. I think that's where Steve got confused. He announce the 2nd runner up which was USA then the winner. On the card it listed Colombia underneath USA (which had 1st runner up next to it) but Steve misread it.
