It's a video that causing outrage: a ten-year-old girl being given a through pat down by a TSA agent. The screening lasted nearly two minutes. It happened at the Raleigh Durham International Airport in North Carolina, when 10-year-old Vendela Payne was returning home to San Diego with her dad. He says the pat down was triggered after TSA agents discovered a juice box in her purse. When her dad objected to the pat down, the TSA agent told him, "Guess what? We don't live in a make-sense world." #InsideEdition

You cant say "honestly it isnt that bad" when you dont have the same triggers as others. Maybe for you theyre fine, and i respect that. But when someone who has went through physical or mental trauma that might cause them to have severe ptsd while being touched, even if it isnt in a threatening way, its horrible. Im a rape victim and i dont let anyone touch me unless i completely trust them because it will literally make me have ptsd, flashbacks and even make me feel suicidal. Last time I checked, it was pretty standard to remove your shoes when passing through TSA checkpoints. It’s also standard for children to get pat down as it isn’t unheard of for adults to try and use children to smuggle illegal things through the airport. TSA was doing their job. I can understand both sides. On one hand, the TSA was just doing their job. And they weren’t harassing the girl. But on the other hand, it’s very uncomfortable to patted down like that. And to the people saying “they need to stop being so sensitive,” it’s a kid, of course they’re going to be sensitive about being patted down by a stranger.

KayLynne Uhl what does wearing a dress have to do with anything? She’s a little kid...she was scared, uncomfortable, and embarrassed. To me her interview were words she was repeating from her father and probably the media that was interviewing her. Her dad knew she couldn’t have a juice box on a plane...they do not let you carry over 3 ounces of liquid. I don’t fly and even I know that. I hate it for the child but she was just doing her job and her father should have explained that to her so she felt better in that situation.

The TSA is completely unnecessary. They miss 95% of threats, make flying a tortuous experience, and waste people's time and money. She’s not spoiled for just feeling valid emotions. She felt uncomfortable induring a pat down. It’s ok to express emotion in a healthy way like talking about it. It’s more of the dad. He was the one who probably wanted it on the news In the first place. For all you know she could’ve just said the stuff for the camera. But it’s not spoiled to feel like running away or feeling uncomfortable or embarrassed doing pat downs that involve touching the body or anything scary for that matter. She probably could’ve been scared since she never had one before too. Just cause she felt violated doesn’t mean she’s spoiled. She probably actually felt that way.

There's nothing sexual about the pat down, the whole thing is professionally done. Why is this father and child making a big deal out of it? It's a requirement when airport security feels the need to do out of the safety of everyone else boarding a plane. If people are out of touch about reality and the dangers of travelling a plane, then travel by car, bus or get your own plane.

+Puff Of Smoke Exactly! Plus, that TSA agent couldn't have been more professional or polite. Yet, if the only people the TSA searched were anything but a white person, people would be screaming "RACISM!" I read previous comments where people were bashed because they didn't see anything wrong with the pat down. I think those bashers just want something to throw a tantrum about. I have a seven year old daughter. If the TSA chose to do a random (or not so random) pat down, then so what?!? If you're not doing anything wrong then what's the problem? My daughter would find a way to make jokes about it, and there wouldn't be any therapy needed.

Mrs. Cliffoconda They had EVERY right to search her, they dont need probably cause - shes flying on an airplane. No one FORCED her to be searched - it was just a stipulation of flying - they could have flown another time or not at all. She could have requested a body scan, but her father probably didnt want her exposed to the radiation, so the alternative is a pat down.. a very professional one at that. Being scared and uncomfortable in these situations is very valid. It’s ok that she is voicing that feeling. She is a ten year old, she probably never had a pat down like this before. First time experiences with new things can be scary. I do agree that it really didn’t need a whole ass news story over. But she should be able to feel emotions. She probably knows it’s protocol. But that doesn’t mean she can’t voice that her fight or flight response was activated during the search.

Yeah she just needs to deal with it. I've felt lots of uncomfortable things and just because some of them made me cry doesn't mean someone else was wrong. When I was going to an airport in Shanghai to go to another part of China as a child, I had a cute little scissors that was precious to me and I brought it to the airport. The staff took my precious from me and I cried and threatened to kill and slaughter the security lady to her face, she understood how I felt and what I said but she still said they have no choice but to take the scissors even if I wanted to kill her (I was 6 or 7 years old). Well guess what, protocol is protocol, me or anyone else crying doesn't mean anything because security is first, emotions 2nd and you can do whatever else afterwards. Unfortunately I never managed to kill her but they did their job

Girl, I feel the same way when it happens to me. The agent was right, we don't live in a make sense world. We live in a world where kids kill people, and parents strap bombs to their babies. It's horrible, but it keeps people safe. I do feel uncomfortable watching this be done to a Lil girl and I know she was embarrassed, so maybe it should have been done in private, behind a screen with her parents. While I agree that it's a bit much, I agree more with people being safe. However, I am sorry she had to go through this and it is upsetting. But it's even more upsetting when people fly planes into buildings or bring bombs on board.

+jouxpane I wish we lived in a world where we didn't have to worry about terrorists using young cute white girls to carry out their acts, but I think we do. just because it has not happened yet, doesn't mean it is not possible for it to happen in the future. the female agent, who does carry a badge to perform the pat downs, was completely professional, she did not remove her clothes, touch any private areas, nor were there any cavity searches. did the girl like it, hell no! but for the greater good of mankind, she had to endure a two minute search... life goes on , she was not violated in any way. trained adults touching children under special circumstances to perform their jobs is not a "touching festival". are you kidding me? I guess I had better go file charges to the two physicians who performed my sons double orthiopexy when he was twelve, and the female radiologist who ultrsounded his festival, naked, when he was 11, and the triage nurses who touched his penis , when they changed his wounds, not to mention, the pediatrician who several times has had him drop trousers and cough..did he like Any of this...nooooo! did he want to run and hide. yes... but they were doing there JOBS... touching festival....really...
