Not really. There is a federal law that protects them from unauthorized purchases. Credit card contracts with retailers require them to allow the credit card company to take the money back from the retailer. That makes both the retailer and the credit card company put procedures in place to protect themselves from theft such as security software and other steps that a corporation can afford but an individual cannot. Debit cards have no such protection. So when someone gets your debit card you have to do your own investigation without any help from your bank. A thief can quickly empty your bank account and the bank is not responsible for your loss nor are they obligated to help you find the thief.

This wasn't the case only. She skimmed her CC info out of the skimming device that actually reads the card information embossed on the chip. That skimming device then gets plugged with a computer and information is extracted through a program. Info like CC number, expiration, CVV can be obtain so easily.

Probably not but then again maybe due to all the mistakes made. If she had experience doing this she would have been much faster getting the card back to the customer to not raise any red flags. She also wouldn't have been so dumb, niave or both to let cameras catch her in the act at all. That's not even getting into the rolling over immediately upon confrontation and then talking ab soccer! It very well coulda been the first time. This is the type of story that changes a person's life for the better. Stops them at an early age and turns them around and in the right direction going forward. Something very similar happened to my brother back in the day like this. Horrible at the time but the best thing that could have happened to him. Not trying to justify anything but context helps.. He was trying to get one over on Walmart vs an individual person.

For those that are still confused, a few days before this clip, she went to the starbucks drive thru to place an order and gave that starbucks employee her credit card which she then takes to the corner at her workplace where Lana couldn’t see her and claims that she was only getting the receipt paper when she’s really getting the card info. She then uses that info to spend $212 on a supermarket the next day and that’s when Lana realizes that employee was using her card info which then led her to come to the same drive thru afterwards and her husband recording the confrontation between her and the employee.
