Is This Outfit Too Revealing for a Steakhouse?

Y'Mine McClanahan says she was turned away from a steakhouse due to what the steakhouse claimed was her "inappropriate attire." She was told two-piece outfit was against the restaurant's dress code. A dress code posted on the restaurant's website calls for business casual and not revealing clothes. In a statement, the restaurant says it was following its policy.

The manager was not wearing a tank top. She was wearing a sleeveless shirt which is totally different. This distinction is made in public schools as well. They allow sleeveless shirts which covers more of the shoulder and do not allow tank tops which reveal more skin. Her dress was appropriate for the restaurant considering their waitstaff look like they work at nightclubs.

They may see it as restaurant management stopping an insufficiently clad customer from being a patron; if she'd been a size 8 or less, her exposed chest area would have been less noticeable, though. And weight discrimination is alive and kicking in Florida. I've been trying to get a job since April. I have over 20 years experience in banking, 11 years experience in hotel industry, 7 years experience in Food and Beverage and all of that adds up to almost 40 years of customer service experience. I think I'm not getting hired because I'm obese and have a disability. This is definitely a wake up call to lose weight; otherwise, I'm screwed.

i’d never forget the day when i was 12 that i was told that i couldn’t wear my little red riding hood costume because it was “too short” but would allow a skinner student to wear a school skirt that was shorter than my costume. i never worn dresses and skirts ever since that day. i’m finally starting to wear it again, but it took me so much for me to gain the confidence to wear it.

This is exactly the same situation when I was in high school. The skinny girls would get away with wearing mesh crop tops with the entire bra showing with booty shorts, but if me, someone who is plus sized, wore a jumpsuit that had spaghetti straps, all hell broke loose and I'D get written up.
