Pain Of Salvation know how to add feeling and personality into their music. I’m definitely excited for this new album
@Pit_Lord3 жыл бұрын
My God this song grows on you. I remember the first time I heard it, I was like, “well...maybe Daniel’s finally found a genre he couldn’t quite make work”. By day 2 it was stuck in my head. Now, a year later,, I see it as one of their best songs and can’t understand how I ever thought differently. One of the most interesting things about this song is that 80% of it is Bm. Literally it’s the entire verse and the post chorus section. Somehow Daniel makes almost an entire song within those confines. Even with the chorus it’s 4 chords outside of a couple of modulations. Bm D F#m Em (modulations E C#m Gm). It’s something he’s been able to do from the very beginning, but it never loses ceases to impress in its ability to write progressive music from a simple progression. The biggest issue in this genre is its tendency to over complicate for its own sake. While that certainly applies to them on their earlier albums and appears from time to time on their newer ones, by and large they have moved beyond that. In large part because of that choice, Pain of Salvation is best understood as the other end of the spectrum from bands like Dream Theater and far better for it. I remember a time when I loved DT, but the moment I heard Pain of Salvation they’ve become a chore to listen to. DT’s music sounds like it was written by a computer that mistakes complexity and speed for the makings of a great band. Pain of Salvation,, by contrast, sounds like their music comes straight from the depths of one’s soul. DT often seems forced and inorganic, pain of salvation radiates sincerity with each note serving the purpose of advancing their songs. This is why they are able to take the most bizarre, borderline non-sensical elements , and seamlessly bind them together into songs that feel as though they couldn’t be written without them.and that they were always meant to be exactly what they are.

Nothing against Leo, actually all a compliment to him that he can play Daniel's drum parts better than Daniel. But Daniel is the rhythmic mastermind in this band. Most if not all of the polyrhythmic ideas in this band come directly from Daniel and he teaches the guys how it goes. I agree Leo is the best drummer for this band though. He is a perfect blend of technical and swing/jazz/improv.

@@mrlittledriverman You haven't listened the demos for the In The Passing Light of Day album. Most of the drums in this demos are played by Daniel himself. In a interview he said, that during the recording of the drums of "On A Tuesday" (as I remember), he pushed Leo to record the last part so many times, and every time he (Daniel) did not like something. Then Leo said something like "Why don't you sit behind the drums and show me exactly how do you want it". Then Daniel sat there, played the part, Leo liked it and exactly this take was used for the album.

skeletank mcgraw I used to think that but then I realized he's just relatively well-adjusted and also sees himself as a character in this raw and real world. In some ways you could see it as a symbol of humility (stripped down), and power (strength) at the same time. It has a certain effect. Also, he is a naturally sexual person so that's not really being full of anything. Some people just like their body too, nothing wrong with that.

Actually, they have disappointed in the past. As a fan from the beginning : I liked Entropia, Loved One Hour BTCL and Perfect Element Pt. 1, Really liked Remedy Lane, Liked most of BE and Scarsick, haven't liked anything since then- and I tried listening to every album! I was excited when people were saying that their last album was a return to their roots. Not true. These are just my feelings about these albums. I love Daniel and PoS. I just think they got a little bit too experimental for my taste. That being said: This newest song is different from recent recordings. It actually sounds like a SONG! Easy enough to follow and enjoy, and complex enough to excite!! I am hopeful that PANTHER will satisfy my PoS itch that hasn't been scratched in many years.(except when I have re-listened to Perfect Element or One Hour!) Edit- I need to move Remedy Lane into the LOVE IT! category. It is as good as The Perfect Element Pt 1.

Well, if I had Dan's body I'd pounce all over my music videos. Well, if I also had his talent, creativity, voice, fanbase. . . :D

Best lyrics (and music) ever. So actual .

Makes little sense why this song/video doesn’t have many many more views. The blame falls squarely on the record label. An incredible performance deserves better.

Might take a bit of growing on me, but I like it so far. Absolutely LOVE when the music really kicks in and Daniel is yelling, though. So amazing. Can't wait for this album. In the passing light of day was so emotional. Great album.
