Yeah, whenever I hear British people talk about how brown sauce is so wildly different than barbecue sauce, I can't help but think they've only ever had Kraft. I've had both, and brown sauce/HP sauce definitely tastes like some bbq sauces I've had. Maybe a little more A1 to it, but definitely totally within the flavor profile of good barbecue sauces.

Eastern NC is vinegar, brown sugar or molasses, and usually some pepper flake. Western NC is the same adding tomato paste/sauce typically. And yeah SC is usually eastern style NC adding mustard. There is some genuinely good barbecue in the UK. But it is much harder to find. It's growing in popularity, but I wouldn't say it has caught on. I know many people here that are suspicious of it, having grown up with sickly bottled barbecue sauce as a condiment and think that is what it is. Additionally, many of the places that do make it are either chains, which are usually ok but not exactly groundbreaking, or "trendy" places that have an air of the hipster about them. Either way, they are usually expensive for what you get. The Great British Barbie is improving though. The days of cremated burgers and charcoal sausages are by no means over, but the market is slowly changing and the foodie BBQ market is growing.

I've had BBQ at a couple of places in the UK and it hasn't blown my mind. There's something about the random assembly of a large amount of ingredients that doesn't really do it for me. Like who needs ribs, brisket, sausage, burnt ends, with fries, slaw etc? It's all a bit much. That said, maybe it works better with the real deal?

So I always like these videos (if you haven’t yet, hit that like button 😁); HOWEVER, I usually wait until something in the video strikes me to. It always happens early and this video is no exception lol love these food tours, looking forward to the next! Duo lingo 😂😂😂 4:25

Korean Englishman/Jollly recently reviewed a London, American style BBQ joint. Maybe there is hope for you back home, after all.

I like how Joe laughed when Harry said it would be hard to go back to the UK. Joe's like "Yeah". hahahahaha.

One of the best Italian restaurants in LA is next door to Slab in West Hollywood- Oste! Also in LA, you have to get Tri Tip, since thats california BBQ meat. Thats what we do really well.

I love a good BBQ when someone knows how to do it in the UK, sadly most ppl don't know. I'd love to try a BBQ from the US, you guys seem to have it down!

Just returned from 2 weeks in London. The beans I saw on “full English” breakfast plates looked pretty insipid, like they opened a tin, microwaved it and poured a slippery spoonful onto a corner of the plate - but the sauce was travelling to touch the other items on the plate. So unimpressive compared to those luscious-looking meaty beans at Gus’s. And those Gus’s pork ribs look worth flying to L.A. just to try!❤
