I've tried all 4 of these locations and I'll say props for picking 4 decently good ramen places in LA! I only wish instead of going to Okiboru for tsukemen, they would've gone to the original Tsujita LA Artisan Noodle (instead of Tsujita Annex) for their tsukemen which I feel like is bar none literally the best in LA. I personally wasn't impressed by Okiboru at all! But 100% agree with going to Daikokuya and Santouka. (Also cannot believe the guy said Santouka isn't too salty because it is SO SALTY but that's also why it's so good)
@iamsamjackson2 жыл бұрын
Haven't been to okiboru, but really didn't like the tsukemen at tsujita. waaaaay too fatty, and really one note flavor. Silverlake Ramen isn't the best ramen spot in town, but their tsukemen is delish.
@xevie37x2 жыл бұрын
@@iamsamjackson To each their own - I personally don't feel like the tsukemen at Tsujita is too fatty. Ramen broths to me should be fatty and rich, and especially in tsukemen so that the noodles are actually able to pick up the broth. I find that if the broth is not rich or thick enough, dunking my noodles in the broth doesn't amount to much and I might as well just order a regular ramen. I also don't feel that it is one note in flavor. It is one of the more unique ramen broths out there in my opinion. However, I've never had Silverlake ramen's tsukemen so I can't directly compare. Though I have had their classic ramen and was not impressed by the noodles or the broth so never returned though I used to live close by. Perhaps I will try their tsukemen if I'm back in the LA area.
@tsubakichan Жыл бұрын
I never went to the OG Tsujita, but I had the Tsujita Annex tonkotsu & tsukemen, and did not like either. Is the original place that different?
@tsubakichan Жыл бұрын
I should say I don't mind fatty and rich. I thought Tsujita Annex sucked because it actually lacked taste - just was salt and salt and salt. Maybe it was just the chefs that day. (I love ramen and have been to Tokyo 3x, but frankly I like SF Bay Area ramen over Tsujita Annex)
@rosylemons5 жыл бұрын
If anyone isn’t from LA just know you should get to Tsujita AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, avoid on Fridays & weekends unless if you want to wait over an hour. Santouka is fairly fast service because it is in a food court, and Daikokuya is good as well, but the wait can be long as well, but you can save a place in line on yelp ahead of time!

One day, a student told the teacher, "You just slurped." "What? No, I did not", "Yes, you did" He was in total denial but after a while he realized that he actually DID slurp when he drank his coffee. The teacher was in shock he could not teach for a while. I went to Tsujita in San Gabriel. I can confirm that its the best ramen I've tried so far! I live in Torrance and ate at a lot of great ramen spots. I also had Ramen Tatsuya in Austin. Tsujita has a clean, rich broth with the perfect ramen egg. The noodles could be a bit thicker, but it was still excellent.

When she tries to pronounce tsukemen, it kinda sounds like “schemmin” haha. I was so confused.

omg @3:51 offensive! its taboo to leave your chopsticks upright in a bowl! To Joe and Food Insider team: If you plan to do more videos using chopsticks, please look up "An Introduction to Japanese Chopstick Etiquette". You ate the food, you can learn more about the culture behind the food. Props to learning how to use chopsticks!

I like a good miso ramen myself. My favorite spot is always Kotoya in Palms. It’s a neat little spot and the bowls have always been good.

Hahaha! I was cracking up when they were at Tsujita and talking about not eating one on your own and I'm over here thinking.... I always get the large one for myself :) Also, tsujita specializes in the dipping noodles as well which they didn't mention
