The coat in 2 lengths. They are considering view c jacket so it doesn't count as 1 of the 2 lengths

As a collector of vintage patterns, let me help you with the vintage terms: A "vestee" is akin to a modesty panel. If you have a low cut top or V-neck neckline, but want to make sure nothing inappropriate is exposed, you'd have a vestee. It's sewn in. A dickie is a false shirt to wear to give someone a layered look without the bulk. Usually it is sewn in too but some dickies could be worn separately as its own garment.
@InsidetheHem2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I knew the dickie was a separate garment but didn’t know if the vestee was.

Thanks Lindsey, I always enjoy your reviews. I did like the stretchy asymmetric top and I could do the Mimi G tops with leggings. It wouldn’t take much to lengthen the anorak top into a sporty dress. I have a RTW French terry dress in a similar style. Perfect for a walk to coffee or the mall. Not much winter vibe though, I’m hoping for some lovely blouses or sweater styles from the big 4.

I am really excited for that suit set. I would love to make it in a more casual way, and I am glad it is in the new sizing. I wish I understood the reasoning behind the sizing though. Why do some have both size ranges in one listing? Why do only some of the womens patters only go up to a 28W still? Why do some of the Misses patterns go up to a 26 now? At that point can't we just have it in womens? I know beggers can be choosers, and I am happy they have expanded, it just seems really random and I wish they would keep the sizing consistent.
@InsidetheHem2 жыл бұрын
I think it has something to do with what they can fit on the tissue. There must be a limit to the number of tissue paper sheets per pattern and sometimes the extra sizes goes over that? Literally just a guess.

What a perfect video for the algorithm to recommend. I'm a new sewist and hearing you discuss these patterns was seriously educational. Thank you! The only pattern that I really liked were those cross front pants. And then there were the sweatpants - or scrubs? No, just no. At least, not for me. And the Mimi G jacket would look better with leggings on me, but I also don't like elastic cuffs on my pants. My legs are fluffy enough on their own 😄

ok. simplicity s9681 view c in a double gauze with beads on the ends of the ties would be a really cute boho top. But pleather? No ma'am. simplicity s9682. I'm with you. I love it! That waist band looks so flattering. A dart in the back would be nice right? Would it be hard to add one? Sweat pants with high heels. LOL I remember back in the day wearing stonewashed jeans with pumps but.... NO. Maybe I'm too old to get it. Maybe it's coming back. Mimi G is not for me. I've never been one for street wear style. It always looks to me like someone is trying to hard. Another great review. I always enjoy every episode. Thanks.

Your Hugh Hefner comment! 😂 I agree... don’t care for that loose shawl collar garment on a guy. I do love the simple raglan sleeve coat with big collar. I might sew it in a boiled wool I’ve had in the stash for a while. Thank you for making this video... was needing to see what’s new out there. 🙂

Hi, that pattern S9686 for the coat, says the coat is two lengths but if you read the rest it says View C is a SHORT JACKET...Had you finished reading the sentence you probably would have caught that.

I will buy the set of skirts (love all of them) and maybe the asymmetrical top with the cutout. I really appreciate your analysis on how the shoulder of that one is fitting. I don't like to buy a pattern until I see your review of it. The family pattern at the end is tremendous value with four garments in all those sizes. Mimi G went from her usual sexy bodycon look to wearing so many layers she looks huge. Each piece is ok on its own but worn together it drowns her petite figure. Thanks sew much for another excellent video.

I really like that Simplicity was trying to do something a little different and interesting but not too crazy. There isn't anything here I feel I have to have like I did with the last Vogue release. But I will likely pick up the dog coat pattern for my chonky bully and the wheelchair blanket pattern for my daughter.
@karlenwilson29092 жыл бұрын
That asymmetrical knit top is so cute! I hardly ever feel like I HAVE to have any patterns but that one I NEED! Also, at first glance the "concho" was a NO, but you talked me into the practicality lol

maybe this is my own prejudice showing but i assumed that the wrap jacket for a man was meant to be a loungewear item--a stay at home and be warm and comfy kind of thing but for dudes. it's kind of like a smoking jacket. you could omit the belt and add buttons and it would look like a grampa cardigan. my 2 cents.
@tinaellison35212 жыл бұрын
I thoroughly enjoy your pattern reviews! I kinda like the casual coat - otherwise many of these patterns have zero shape and altogether too much ease! 10" of bust ease should be reserved for an overgarment; please!! Also, is this the first time that Simplicity has included pattern descriptions? Finally!

Just a thought about items not being in traditional winter fabrics..... not everywhere in the world has cold winters, maybe they are trying to appeal to more than just USA?

I had the same thought. Even in the US, my Southern California girlfriend isn’t wearing my Pacific Northwest winter wardrobe 😊

Thank you so much for doing these pattern release reviews. I'm going to comment on Mimis' pattern. I think your view of her being very busy and only releasing one pattern is probably correct. I'm with you in that it's not something I could pull off if wearing everything at once. And honestly? Even on her, it's " a lotta look". I think that she's a tad too short for all of that fabric, but that's just me. Separately, the pieces do work, but together, they're a lot. Also, as you point out, that anorak pullover would be better if it had a front zip rather than not. Again, thanks for the reviews! They're great.

I think that the Mimi jacket would look better with a high lo hem curving up at the front

I don’t think that the patterns ought to be custom fit to the models, because that would give a false impression of how the garment fits straight out of the packet. Instead, I do very much wish that the sample sizes sewn were stated, along with the heights and body measurements of the models, for each photo published. That would provide sooooo much information regarding the fit and ease of the designs. If only wishing made it so…

It seems strange to have cut away shoulders on the women’s plus sizing. I don’t know who the plus size women are who feel comfortable in a strapless bra. I sure don’t. Talk about the whole thing falling down! Maybe the cut out patterns could be designed with a coordinating bra cover, like some sort of shaped dickie?

The last pattern with the men's cargo pants- the model is wearing a Shawl collar sweater in that one that is perfect. I'm thinking where is the pattern for this?
@eunicehehir6374 Жыл бұрын
I think 9678 is just too big for model: the neckline looks loose, the waistline droops, there's too much length in the bodice.

The tie belt makes that jacket look like a robe. it looks sloppy. I think there have always been separate jacket patterns. There have certainly always been separate pants and skirt patterns too. The way that pleather tunic is styled it looks very seventies. Definitely not new or fresh The unisex shawl collar cardigan reminds me of my grandfather. I absolutely love those cross front pants
