The level of preparation Bret goes into to ensure the match is amazing, not for him, but for his opponent. Brets whole story here is all about making the moment for bulldog not him, pure dedication to the business and to those around him. GOAT

This is true, but not many wrestlers at all dead or alive could have had a classic match after having a heavy crack bender for months. Even if the opponent carried them, davey boy was still talented and skilled enough to have followed and kept up with bret. But yes, bret is the hero here

His matches and that steamboat vs. Savage match is still one of the best matches I have ever seen. Bret Hart vs. Chris Benoit in memory of Owen is one of my favorite matches ever!

Bret was always willing to put people over in big matches and could always do it in a way that made the other guy look strong while not making himself look weak. That is why he is one of the all time greats.

Growing up I disliked Bret Hart. His traditional “wrestling” style I didn’t like. I watched it for the entertainment. Now as an adult, I can’t get enough of Bret Hart. I feel he now is the most underrated wrestlers.

Now I have to go watch the match again. That was a classic I didn’t know that Bulldog hadn’t wrestled in so long though and was out on a coke binge to boot. So they did an awesome match together considering if there were factors or not.

Sad that 32 years later, the WWE hasn’t returned to the UK to do a Large Scale PLE. They deserve to host a SummerSlam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, or the grandest of all, WrestleMania, with more than 85K in attendance.

i was there at Summerslam 92. Was an amazing night. I remember being torn who to support. Bret was my favourite but also wanted to support Bulldog in his home country.

He's right about not knowing who would win. Living in the UK, at the time it was two "good guys" and that seemed to tell me as a kid it wasn't necessarily obvious, and you couldn't really call it. It was beautifully booked.

So you never watched British wrestling on ITV? They had two good guys having clean sportsmanly scientific matches all the time. Old school UK promotions like All Star, Rumble and Premier still do in 2024.

Reminded me of WM6 with Hogan/Warrior with how it felt. Great match but I wish Davey had been clean when it happened, part of the issue was he & Neidhart stayed up all night prior drinking & doing drugs. Bret essentially had to carry the whole match due to him still being inebriated.

@@garydinsdale you never watched "New Catch" on Eurosport then? Although there weren't too many clean matches on there. If you went to live shows by All Star etc between WWF/WCW tours, you would have seen plenty of clean matches.

This is my all time favorite match, being Canadian from Calgary, I was disappointed hart lost but I was happy because there family was back together again. I was 8 Years old.

I remember as a child watching the Hart foundation, fought the british bulldogs. I understand singles match, but they have wrestled and did Programs together, In tag teams.

It's still a shame we never got to see Bret Vs Kurt. the two of them, in a 30 minute 2/3 Iron Man match would've been a new textbook in the art of Professional Wrestling. It's as disappointing as not seeing Bret on Team Canada for The Olympics, which would've maybe been another chance for him to wrestle Kurt Angle. in MY opinion, the two best to ever do it.

He main evented the show and actually was really the one that put that IC title match together brother....Bret Hart went to Hogan and didnt know what to do, so Hogan broke down how the match would go....Bret was so thankful......as soon as Hart - Davey ended, the Hulkster came down, dropped several leg drops and claimed the IC Title. The 400,000 in attendance all stood up in awe chanting his name. Hogan then, to show what kind of guy he was, gave the IC title back to Davey.

I never bought that 3 day crack binge and no sleep story. I'll drink beer only from 3pm to 8pm on a Saturday, then watch some TV and go to sleep at 11, i'm waking up the next day absolutely shot. Eyes shot, energy shot, stamina shot. Hangover city the rest of the day. Davy looked fine. From walking out with Lewis to match's end.

I remember once there were two shows in 90/91 I think one in Birmingham which I went to and one in Sheffield. We found out when we got there that Hogan was only appearing at the Sheffield show which upset a lot of people but I got to see Bret vs Shawn for the IC title so that was the highlight for me.

I am not knocking on the interviewer. He is doing a good job. But, I think he should ask Bret different questions that we have never heard before. Because we have heard Bret’s stories many times. Try asking different questions that can set you apart from other interviewers. It’s up to you.

Bret may not have been the best on the Mic but he looked like a total badA$$ and could tell a story by simply wrestling something that 90 percent of wrestlers cannot do, that's why he is one of the all time greats, his ability to tell a story in the ring is second to none

By far my favourite channel by far for these interviews. Hope to see more. And eventually full videos. Bret with another wrestler for one of these shows would be epic. Bret and Taker or Stone Cold.. not that they wouldn't be as good their own.. there's just something about Bret. I could listen to him talk and tell stories all day

Hart- Bulldog was NOT the main event just because it went on last. Warrior -Savage was the main event. Do your homework, interviewer (PS Yes I was there)

Bret Vs Davey went on last because (1) they wanted a nice Rule Britannia patriotic finish to the night. (2a) Warrior was originally supposed to sell out to Mr Perfect and become heel World champion until he thought of the collapse in merch sales and chickened out (2b) even with the changed finish it still would have been disappointing and lacklustre to end the night on an inconclusive finish.

See also Survivor Series 91, Great American Bash 91 and Great American Bash 1985 for other examples where the advertised main event went out earlier in the evening because it was due to end on a downbeat note, so another match went on last to send people home happy.

Davey couldn’t remember things because he had been up all night smoking crack with Anvil & couldn’t remember anything that was supposed to take place in the the match, not to mention still being wasted. So Bret had to carry the both of them the whole time.

He is spot on warrior etc were like cartoon characters but as a kid I loved them but I had enough knowledge to love hart, dibiase, perfect, steamboat etc also. As I got older I could see how crap warrior and Hogan were at their craft. Warriors finish was embarrassing!

I once heard Bret say that Andre told him that he was honored to have a singles match with Bret. Andre was retired for a couple of years before Bret started his solo career. He's definitely turning into Hogan with the lies.

@@TeddyKGB12 Bret's match with Andre happened in 1989, which was a full year before he retired. He also had singles matches when he was still a member of The Hart Foundation (Dynamite Kid, Bad News Brown, Mr. Perfect, Ted DiBiase, etc) Sounds like you're the one who's lying.

That match against Davey Boy was unbelievably boring. Brett is a good wrestler, but most of his matches are slow.

ROFLMAO! People standing outside the hotel until 4am chanting Bret's name???? He's getting as bad as Hogan with his lies. But just like every other interview with Bret, he makes himself out to be a bigger deal than he really was. Once, I heard in an interview with Bret where he said that Andre told him that he was honored to have a singles match with him that night...............Andre was retired for a couple of years before Bret started his solo career!
