Not part of a franchise but The Wolfman (2010) with Anthony Hopkins, Benicio DelToro, Hugo Weaving and Emily Blunt. It hasn't been done to death like so many others. The Legendary Rick Baker did the makeups and it's fabulous. I'm a fan of practical effects mixed with CGI.

Fun fact: The actor who plays the red-skinned demon is also the composer of the Insidious films. He’s also known for doing the musical score for most of The Conjuring films as well. Joseph Bishara is known having a kind of avant-garde style of orchestral writing. Particularly with the strings used. I am a big fan of those dissonant sounding horror tremolo and pizzicato textures in horror soundtracks. Along with some intense electronics and ominous crescendoes.

The zoom in on Igli’s pup yawning was adorable 🥰 This movie isn’t terribly scary but it is to me because I had a near death experience a few years after this came out and I was stuck somewhere like what Elise refers to as “The Further”. You guys have to react to The Black Phone (2021). I see a lot of comments recommending Sinister, which I agree you should watch. It is unsettling even to people who love horror, and it has a really dark tone. But I am surprised not many people have mentioned The Black Phone. Both movies are very different, but they have the same creators ( Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill) and some of the same actors (Ethan Hawke and James Ransone.) They are both amazing movies, but The Black Phone is one of my all time favorite movies, and I think it is a good fit for people like Blake who want more story than scares.
