Do you get a full UK postcode after this upgrade? And can you use a full Europe map from a DVD disc? (scratch that: see below..., Full UK postcodes can be used instead of town and also Europe on DVD (MY2011 only)).

The hardware is CD only. Upgrading the the firmware will not make a cd player a dvd player. Whatever maps you currently have will be there after the flash. Beware sometimes they disappear but can be re-installed with a VX cd.

Brown Andrew CD 500 has a DVD hardware in it! I learned last night you can burn MP3s on a DVD and it'll work. You can just go in to the themes file and change / edit the pictures and icons to your liking. Just make sure the image size is not altered. Have fun :)

Does this give updates on speed camera locations and speed limits? Mine has the standard warnings for road closures/icy conditions etc but I'd like a heads up if Mr police man wants to add to his coffers for being a few mph over the limit

Edit the pictures in the zip files used on the usb used for the update. Best using a theme with mo patch and changing it to your liking

On Apofigey theme it didnt gave me the 3D navigation option. So now I'm installing the default thame with 3D. Hope it will work.

+DacianArad Install the theme with the patch 1st. That gets 3D maps. Then you can install any other theme after that for the theme only. Be sure to read up before attempting.

I solved, :) i also flashed my astra J sports tourer 2011 , everything it's ok :) now i have 3d view :) Now does anyone know if i can find on internet to download some updated maps to upload them from USB to the car ? my cd is with the maps from 2011 - so even some maps from 2015 will be great, if from 2016-2017 it's not possible :)

You need the original CD/DVD. Check the forums, there is usually a DVD being circulated for a fraction of the price. Nice job on the flash :)

Hi Andrew , thanks a lot , i do found 2 bugs after this upgrade : on night mode the map distance is not fully displayed on the right side of the screen ( i can survive with this ) , but since i made the upgrade the VOICE call doesn't work, i press the button to start voice call and nothing happens ( even do the button works cause i can answer phone calls by pressing it ) so i lost the voice call function , is there any way to solve this or should i reverse the upgrade that i did and install the original firmware back ? P.S. is there any firmware to upgrade the display/functions to show the parking sensors intensity on the screen ? now i only have acoustic

Not sure on the voice commands as mine did not have the factory bluetooth. You could try rolling back and installing again (worth a try).

No as it's for model year 2011. If you search there might be a version of the firmware for model year 2009/2010 though.

Not sure what you are asking but you should still be able to get map updates. Check forums for them. Someone usually buys an original CD/dvd and they post it about . To be honest I replaced the lot with an Android system and everything works plus all the bells and whistles.

also what happens if you want to update the maps to the newest release do you purchase "download" the CD500 or DVD800 map is it that one and the same thing?

Once patched you can update your maps from the original cd or dvd. I patched mine then paid £10 for the Forum CD. Basically one person buys the CD uses it and posts it on to the next with each person sending 10 quid in return to the original buyer and posting on to the next (all in good faith but it works). After the map update all was still the same with 3D maps.

Hi, please help. I have an insignia 2010 cd500 navi. Updated my iPhone to ios10 and when I connect it to the USB port it says "iPod not supported" before the update it used to connect and display my songs on the screen. Will this cd800 flash fix the issue or where can I get the firmware update for cd500 I have been struggled with this issue for a while now. If you or anyone else here could help you'd be appreciated.

Probably quite abit too late for you but maybe useful for someone else. I found the way around this was to have one song on my Iphone via itunes. The phone then was recognised as a 'ipod' and meant i could play audio via spotify/ audible.

Most people can yes, although there have been cases where all map data has been lost and you need a VX cd to load them again. Use the CD500 maps as well.

+Juan Gonzalez Parra From what I have seen all language packs are the same. Just read up on it and follow the process. Some really nice custom graphics can also be included if you really want to go to town.

It can do although usually it is fine. I had the update DVD from a dealership just in case. Mine and many others where ok.

Hi, I tried this last night and it flashed ok and I now have a display with a tiger image on the right which shows it has flashed ok I suppose. But my Maps are still in 2d and not 3d. It is a Dec 2010 edition.

From what i have read, it is for 2011+ I assume you have went into the settings to check if there is a new option for '3D' ? The maps do not default to the new 3D setting, you need to select it after flashing.

Sam Brass you will need to get the hold of an original VX map CD.

You cannot, you need the original DVD / CD. There was a few being shared by post on the forums a few years back and probably still are. Based on trust and good will and £10 to cover the fee. (Nope no idea where to get them no mate sorry)
