Oh brilliant Jimmy. I must have spent over an hour figuring it out the first time. Not sure why they made it so complicated. "Push and turn" worked well on older cars very well 🤷♂️
@Khemu-q4f6 жыл бұрын
Nice explanation. I had to change the bulb recently and couldn't slot the thing underneath the screws. Didn't realise the metal plate behind the bulb was cliped on upside down. Unclipped it and put it the right way up and now it slots in perfectly. Thanks for showing that the lip had to be on the top.
@monsterp19706 жыл бұрын
A Morely - You're welcome. Ah yes, the big lip! I've been driving for 30 years, and had cars made since the mid-70's. I don't remember any of my previous cars being this complicated to fit a bulb 😱

Thanks mate! I watched both yours and Mitchell campion video,yours pics really helped me. Like another commentator, I too struggled on taking the old bulb out, it does require some force to prize it out of the holder. Your pics helped greatly. Thanks once again.
@monsterp19707 жыл бұрын
Appreciated Josh, thank you. Actually, no force needed, just slim hands and double jointed fingers! Haha. Just make sure you undo the torx screws only a quarter or half a turn, that's all thats needed to turn the bulb holder a quarter turn, then it just pulls out without resistance.

Great explanation; come back with more :). As with most modern cars this simple task is ridiculously tricky! I think all car designers should be made to do this task on a rainy day!! Bet they would get their act together then !!

You can actually twist out the bulb without touching the torx screws
@monsterp1970 Жыл бұрын
Hi Ian. Thanks for watching. You can't just twist it, unfortunately. It's locked in with the screws, but you only have to loosen them off rather than remove completely, then twist out the housing and it comes out as shown, then pull the bulb from the housing. Nothing simple these days, unfortunately.
@ianlaw7744 Жыл бұрын
@@monsterp1970 I did precisely that though, they just twisted out and back in again and stayed there 🤷🏻♂️

You're welcome. I never expected this video to be so helpful. 😁 The headlamp units will be sub-assembled before being fitted to the car. Unfortunately, not so easy for us consumers later 🤷♂️

@@monsterp1970 have you done a video on how to remove the actual main headlight unit?
@monsterp19703 жыл бұрын
@@daz51173 - It seems that these headlamps are notorious for the seals to break. Both of mine suffer condensation and I've considered removing them, seal with silicone or similar, but I'm planning to change the car this year instead. You have to remove or drop down the front bumper to get at the mounting screws at the bottom of the headlamp unit (more stupid design). There are screws along the top of the bumper in the engine bay and underneath once you've raised the car a little. The tricky part being the easily breakable clips by the wheel arches. Check some other general videos for removing bumpers on the Insignia, Astra, etc., and that will give you a general idea. I've also done a video on changing the turbo hose, which often splits on these cars, but I've yet to edit an upload that one. Subscribe please, thank you.

how do you fit it back i find it verry difficult to lock it back into those 2 screws .
@monsterp19706 жыл бұрын
Cosmin Co - make sure the screws are loose enough for the 'wings' to slide underneath them. It only takes half a turn. Then once it's in place, just tighten the screws. The biggest problem with this, is lack of space. I remember spending a good two hours doing mine. The longest I've ever spent to just change a light bulb!
@edwinkateka95922 жыл бұрын
but I have to mention that we must not be happy with this type of engineering design. Did you see the simplest design in volvo v50? one day those light leveling adjustment mechanism will fail and you will need to replace the whole headlight assembly, this is the time you will never want those who designed these vehicles to be your friends at all🤣😂
@monsterp1970 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment Edwin. Although this one doesn't have light levelling, the design is over complicated in my view to simply secure a bulb. My previous cars from the 70's, 80's and 90's had much easier designs to remove and replace a bulb, let alone they had a lot more space too!
