I totally agree! My battle with insomnia has actually lead to me becoming a much more productive person (paradoxical I know!lol). I am so much more mindful during the day .. and I’m not sure how to put it but I think I spend a lot more time being appreciative and valuing my days when before I used to just go through the motions. Hope this makes sense to you. Another tactic I don’t mind sharing is that when I find I maybe taking longer than usual to sleep and my anxiety is ready to creep in ..I let go completely and tell myself that when my body is ready to sleep, it will. I find that very relaxing to do. Thanks for all the info again !

Rashauna, thanks so much for sharing this! You know, this is a whole new definition of paradoxical insomnia 😊 I do think when we start becoming aware of how we think, when we are made to look under the hood of our minds, we learn things that cannot be unlearned. I think this truly leads to mindful days, and when we no longer are simply reacting, we become more productive! And letting go, this is the way. For someone reading this, it can seem like you can’t do this. And in a way this true, it’s not an action or something we can willfully decide, but rather like we read here... when we are willing to experience discomfort, willing to experience whatever happens... that’s letting go. Mohammed - hang in there! You know, failure is an illusion really. Because there’s nothing we can do to sleep or do to control our thoughts or emotions. So there’s nothing you can fail at! This said, when you thing you’re unable to do something, you can be hard on yourself when you believe you were unable. See that there’s this illusion of failure, and you will be kinder and gentler with yourself. And then things will be easier and easier!

Hi Coach D! I’ve been sleeping (not better but just sleeping😆) Last night, I had a night of anxiety but I wasn’t scared of it at all. I really feel like I’m on the other side of the hill and it’s so freeing!! I didn’t freak out, I recognized that I was hyperaroused with my eyes closed but I was weirdly calm about it while it was happening, if that makes sense lol. My hyperarousal usually lasts a few hours so last night, I just let it be, kept my eyes closed and rested and eventually I KO’d. I haven’t been clock watching at all which helps a million times over!! So yeah, just wanted to drop in, say hi and let you know how I’ve been doing 🤗

Sooo glad to read these lines 😁!! This is the way and you know, it’s really just a coming together here if wisdom and insight you’ve had for some time. It’s the most encouraging message I read when I hear “I was anxious, but it didn’t bother me” or any variety of this. Because like you said, when something doesn’t bother you, there will be no struggling to make it go away... and then peace happens 😊!! Thanks for being in touch and talk soon!!

This is very interesting to me. As are all your videos, even if I am not quite ready to 'accept' them😉. Namaste, Lucy

Hi Coach, I would appreciate your take on this ASAP if possible. Recently, a technique I use is called pretend sleep. This is when you have many nights in a row where you cant really fall into deep restorative sleep, but you still stay in bed for however long your bedtime would be but wake up at the same time not knowing how long you actually slept as you continually transition between wakefulness and not so deep sleep. So you wake up and tell yourself you slept despite knowing deep inside you didn't get the perfect sleep. What do you think of this tactic coach? I'm writing this from another wakefulness period (3rd this week).

Hi Mohammed, You know, I think anything you do that makes you freer, that makes you less preoccupied, that takes you away from focusing on sleep, that makes it more ok to be awake, this will help! A good check is if you think “that didn’t work” or “that worked”, then you’re probably going to have some trouble. But if you think “aha, I don’t have to do anything” that’s really the way!
