Thank you so much. I didn't know about this tip and also I never thought of recording your samples too. Thanks 🙏.

Or you can learn straight up audio engineering and mess with the sound wavelength to strip the drums and synth tracks manually.
@Randuski
@Randuski 6 жыл бұрын
dennisvergel36 it's still not really possible. If you had an exact duplicate of the drums on their own, you could use phase to (kind of) remove the drums, but it doesn't work well with drums. Plus you don't have stems, so haha your only other option is EQ, but drums take up a lot of space in the freq spectrum, and you'll end up with a trash sounding song haha

A useful tip for those who haven't done it, is make a template folder. Effectively it's a project which has an audio track ready for the song file, the samples track, and the lights track, all set up complet with pages and midiext/fire should you want it. This means you can open the Template folder, put your chosen song in there, and save it into a new project folder, so you never have to setup your project again :)

So, if it does not have any stems, then how can I make it feel interesting? Because then I can't have like, my right hand doing voice, and my left hand doing some drums. Because since they are together on an audio track, I can't just magically separate them. Would that type of thing be impossible without stems, or would I have to cut out both the singing and the drums, or something different?
@quantumjoss
@quantumjoss 7 жыл бұрын
I'm gonna add that when practicing, practice to improve, not to impress. What I mean by that is you can practice for hours and have no improvement, but someone who practiced for 10 minutes and effectively learned the song will be much better when you start to record. You don't have to record every time you play, and if a certain part of the song is extra difficult for you, practice just that part a few times until you've got the hang of it. If you mess up you don't have to go all the way back to the beginning. If you keep recording and you're getting discouraged, turn off the camera and practice alone for a while. That is what usually works best for most people, that way you don't have to keep pressing record, and stop on your camera.

Also, how do you single out a certain instrument? I see people that press two of the same buttons during the beat but with different treble instruments, how do you do that?
@InspirAspir
@InspirAspir 6 жыл бұрын
The only way to isolate certain instruments is by downloading a song's stems. Odds are these are not available, but as I mentioned it can't hurt to do a quick search to check. If this is the case, the stems will provide each individual layer of the song which you can sample. Otherwise, you can't get a certain instrument (the best you could do is try and EQ the song to pick out each layer, but that isn't very clean). Hope that helps!

Is there a setting for the Mini that is different from the Pro? If anybody knows how to fix this, please tell! (When i start the song via the spacebar or clicking the playbutton, it does play, so i do have my sound on!) Edit: I had the chain selector thingy on the wrong page thing (so i guess you could say *the samples were not on the same page* as my launchpad pa dum tss literally tho)

SkyLegendary you sample each stem on its own
@InspirAspir
@InspirAspir 7 жыл бұрын
Pretty much what was already said here ^^^ But if I can chip in my own 2 cents, you shouldn't use stems moreso *_just because it can make a cover technically more impressive_*. I mean sure, that's a great reason on it's own, that way people can appreciate the time, effort, and talent to perform your cover. However, I think it should be thought of more like this: using stems will allow you to be more creative when making your *_cover_*. A lot of people seem to think that a cover is just playing the exact copy of the song provided (which I suppose is ok). But another way you can think of it is a cover is your *_live rendition of that song_*. Using stems when performing will allow you to add different elements of a song in different places, maybe sample a sound out of it's normal place, play a melody over a different layer of chords than is normal, etc. Basically it grants you more creative freedom. A lot of people seem to have the mindset that you *_have_* to use stems because technically it's more impressive. This is true, but I don't believe that's a good way to look at it. You *_should_* use stems because they give you more options than a normal audio file. Hope that helps

Hey, welcome! In case you were still curious, a Launchpad is a MIDI controller that is great for live performances. You can think of it similar to a keyboard, but you can map any sounds/samples to the buttons and you can create light effects to go with it. If you want to see some more launchpad covers in action some of my favorite launchpadders and friends can be found below. Kaskobi: kzbin.info/door/XfZwgl1HyGrXxdE9dNkQqg Teqqnix: kzbin.info/door/Mogerqmiz3x0vA0bv64L4g SoNevable: kzbin.info There is a whole community here but those are some good places to start watching if you want to learn more about the launchpad. Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it!

Hey inspir, sometimes in an MIDI clip when I try changing the velocity, just a small twitch of the mouse could cause the velocity reach the highest, or the lowest. Does this happen to you too or is it that I'm just bad?

It takes some getting used to - it's a little tricky to nail at first but eventually you'll get the hang of it

I noticed that whenever I try to change pages after doing what you said that I change pages with whatever button I press on that row too Not just the arrows on the right but each button to the left of them and on. What should I do? I have a Launchpad MK2 if that changes anything.
