This video might be the best (if not only) beginner friendly video about light effects on youtube. I'm new to both ableton & launchpad but I can work with light effects just with this 14 mins + half an hour with some practice. And I also got some of the basics about the ableton interface. Great work dude.

You can do way more with Ableton lite. like wormholes, rainbows.... you just need 16 chains But it takes forever.... Never mind
@philosofy4693 жыл бұрын
yeah it took me like 4 chains and 30 minutes to make just make half of the lightshow you see when you plug in the launchpad into the computer.

Hi, InspirAspir. I was watching Part 2 of your launchpad light show tutorial, and I want to know at 11:39 in that video, how do you do the thing that pressing the buttons on Launchpad and the buttons will light up and it will also show in the piano roll. When I press my buttons on my Launchpad it doesn't light up and nothing appears in the piano roll. I am using Launchpad MK2. Please reply since I really need help of this. Another note for my problem, I've open that blue headphone thing in the piano roll on. Use mouse to click on the piano keys and it does lights up on Launchpad for me, but doesn't when I press the buttons on launchpad.

While I agree, that requires software that not everyone has access to. This method is available for everyone who gets the Launchpad, as opposed to purchasing the software needed for the easier method of making lights

This video is a godsend! I watched your other fancy light effect tutorials (rainbow wave, etc) and have practiced making a few on my own. How do you map those MIDI clips to a button to trigger instead of pressing Play and having to create a whole track with it timed out and lined up?

For those using the Mini MK2, it's kinda weird at least in my case, first you want the channel to be 1. as per the mini, but if you're not getting any light feedback, try pressing the button that's labelled 6. This worked for me for some reason, I'm not exactly sure why, I was using default ableton lite.

Dude I’ve recorded my own chain light video lmao. I was gonna put it up tmr. Beat me to it P.S. I finished watching the vid. The arpeggiator trick at the end was what my vid was about lmao. That’s how a make most my lights in my videos. Different chains in a midi rack, with an arpeggiator in front of it. Obviously expanding on that more but that’s my main basic trick

Is there a way to map lights to a button on the launchpad while it is not working as a key but e.g. as an effects toggle? If I map the buttons in user mode 1 or 2 to something else than keys, the buttons won't be shown in the midi effects rack "keys", thus I can't send light Information there. Any ideas? Thanks for the video!

For those who are having the issue of their piano roll not responding and their Launchpad not lighting up, you probably also have columns lit up red. Remember to put your Launchpad into User mode by pressing the corresponding button. On the MK2 you'll have a Session, User 1, User 2, and Mixer button at the top right. Right now you're almost definitely in Session mode. Simply press User 1 and follow the rest of the video as normal.
@MrSevenEleven Жыл бұрын
This doesn't make sense, it still doesn't work. Now it's just in my user mode and still not producing any lighting effects whatsoever. It just acts as it always does in user mode, which is just 8 vertical sliders side-by-side. Is there a certain custom mode I have to install to the user slot? I don't get this at all, I feel like he left out the steps of which custom mode to install to the Launchpad.
