Tia, You look so beautiful. You are very blessed to have spent time with your great grandmother. You are definitely who you are from the women in your family. You were surrounded by grace , faith, and prayer . Wow , your great grandmother, grandmother and your Mother are truly inspiring women that gave you the strength and courage to be who you are today. They instilled confidence within you to do and be the best you can be. Thank you for sharing this. “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Your Grandmother sounded much like my beautiful Mom who is in heaven. We talk a lot on the phone i try to spoil her by sending her things and i always joke with her and tell her she's my daughter. I love her and my mom so freaking much. I treasure all the women from my family. Knowing that my great grandma use to cut stone with my grandma when she was little to bring in money into the household. My grandma never finished HS, my mom never went to College and now i plan to finish college. I get overwhelmed but hearing your family story gives me hope. My daughters(8 and 14) still have their paternal great grandmother, she’s an amazing woman and I love the relationship she has with them. I get envious at times because I never met my maternal grandmother let alone great grandparents. She prays for them and speaks life and love into their loves, i might not know what the future holds but if there’s one thing I know for certain is that having a grandmother who prays over and for you - there’s nothing that will stand in your way ❤️❤️❤️

What a touching video, Tia. I'm a Bahamian and know that song that your great grand mother danced to! "🎵 Do a nanny, do a nanny, do a nanny do 🎶!" What an honour it must have been for you and your twin Tamera to have meet her on your reality show! I remember that episode which part of was filmed at Fish Fry on Arawak Cay in Nassau. Bahamian women are strong, resilient, happy, supportive women who love to cook, sing, dance and live life to the fullest!!! They are strict, but loving mothers to their children, grand children and great grand children. I am the first grand child in my family, and to me, my grand mother was my mother, I actually called her Mommy until I was like 6 years old!! She was my confidant, my prayer partner and she was my very best friend! She gave excellwnt advise and wise counsel. She poured herself into me and the time I had with her is soo very precious to me. I am soo thankful that she introduced me to Jesus and taught me how to pray. She was soo thankful to live to see her first great grand child, my first son! She told me that she was old when I was born 😂, so for her to live to see him and even spend time with him until he was 2 years old, was a rich blessing to her! I was pregnant with my second son when she went home to heaven. Her prayers are still keeping me pushing forward and living life to the fullest!!! I feel her cheering me on each day.

Thanks for sharing your story it inspired me! My inspiration was my grandmother. She was different, she chopped wood like a man, took care of my grandad and her family like we were royalty. She got up at 5am everyday, washed by hand with a washboard, clothes was white as snow, cooked 3 meals plus desserts everyday. She, was, amazing! She never set down during the day unless it was her coffee and cake time. I loved her! As a matter of fact, I am her, but in a modern day. She and my grandfather prayed constantly. I remember seeing them Bow Down through the day, she would walk through her house singing and praising God. She was and is my inspiration!

So inspirational. We see how positivity or negativity can become perpetual from generation to generation. Look at the awesome impact Tia's grandmother had on her. Wow we are talking four generations which Tia mentions starting with her fiesty, wise and godly grandmother; and Tia's mother who embodied the lessons taught to her by Tia's grandmother, and now Tia is an example for her daughter to learn those life-long lessons from three generation of awesome Black women that overcame difficult challenges. I'm inspired by her story to leave a legacy for my children and grandchildren.

I'm glad you believe in the power of prayer and your strong family heritage. The movie I saw "The War Room" was about a prayer room in a house where the matriarch prayed for her family. I was so impressed with the movie that I am pondering the idea of changing my linen closet into a prayer room to not only pray for my family in these hard times, but to also show my children and pay respect to to my elders who did the same for me. Hi Tia!! First off I love you and Tam so very much and I look up to you guys!! I love the relationship that you have with God as well. I'm one of those ppl who didn't get a chance to meet my great-grandmother, but I've heard stories about her from my grandma who's still with us today. Thank you for sharing with us! Love you and you look beautiful in red! Tia, I feel like I'm the only one on your ch who says too much, meaning I have the longest response ever! Lol. Well, for me, the women who have inspired me would be my mom and my grandmother as well. My mom, because no matter what, no matter how old I was she would always inspire me and encourage me about being a mom. I too was nervous when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter who's 6. I always said, oh my gosh, I'm having a daughter! I was so happy and nervous bc I would see how these girls are today, and I was like I don't want my daughter to be like that, meaning having mouth on her meaning talking back and acting up, bc I wasn't like that growing up, and if I ever talked back, I would get a pop in my mouth. Lol. Anyway, to this day, I always say that I want to be the best mom I can be to my daughter, do my best to raise her to be a great woman. My mom and grandmother always tell me that you're a great mom and I like hearing that bc there are times where I do question myself and say what am I doing wrong when my daughter starts to act up, but you know, I pray that God gives me strength and I pray for my daughter and my mom always tells me to just pray for, pray for your family. I thank and love my mom for that.
