Inspire Tri-Chorus

Big Neunaber fan - love the sound ! I can confirm that the chorus is fab - actually I don't think this vid really does it justice. It can do those big glassy sounds like the police, and also like rush and many more - it's the only chorus I've found that can hold a candle to my old 70's mxr (silly big thing with stupid 18v power lol, but sounds sublime). It's good for Genesis too ! It can do a very nice chorus but without that stupid warble you get from other pedals (it can warble if you want it to though). Not so keen on the new 'slate' pedals - same sounds of course, but I don't like having a bunch of pedals on my board that all look the same, so I have to put horrible big stickers on them to remind me what they are, then they come off all the time. I've actually removed my slates from my live board now because I just screwed up too many times with them - bought a dedicated chorus instead (already had a bunch of others). My problem now is I keep screwing up on my Echelon lol - because it does different things depending on how I press it. Sometimes I've triggered the wrong thing and ended up in a bit of a mess on stage. Also it has a bit of a delay before it kicks in when switched, and that's a BIG problem for me, and will probably be the (live) death of it in the end except for studio use. I truly believe the slate thing is a mistake - it might be a good idea from the point of making manufacturing much easier, but it's visually bad and also there's just no character - nothing to remember or care about - just the same thing over and over again. If Neunaber really wants to do this then they need to put a display panel on each pedal so it lights up with what it is being and what variant - even more so when used with an exp (I have 3 so I do know what I'm talking about). At least that would help with the live usability of them, but of course I'd have to buy all my pedals again !!! Probably would though lol.

Thanks for the comments. I actually agree with you about the Expanse Series pedals (a.k.a. Slate). Live and learn. You may have noticed that Neunaber hasn't done much with these pedals recently, other than discontinue all but one of the graphic options. The software hasn't been updated, nor have we been actively marketing these products. We have been focused on developing more traditional, "non-programmable" pedals, such as the Inspire Tri-Chorus featured here. Eventually, the Expanse will need to be replaced with something to address these concerns -- we don't yet know what this will be and don't have a time frame.

Brian - the programmable aspect is not the issue, and in fact it is one of the things that attracted me to your pedals in the first place. It's a really nice idea, it just needs tweaking. The addition of a big display panel to let you know what's going on would be the perfect way to move forward in my humble opinion, then you could carry on with the slate type idea and keep the ease of production. Make the display capable of different background colours - I could choose blue for my chorus, green for my delay etc etc, and they'd be easy to spot on stage in the dark. I had noticed the software has not been updated for a long time (about 16 months I think) - to be fair it's already good and works perfectly though. I was looking forward to some new sounds/fx to play with, and I have a real desire to hear what you could do with a drive pedal !!! I do hope you will find time to bring out a few updates now and then for those of us who already bought in to the expanse series - personally I own 5 Neunaber expanse type pedals (3 dedicated and 2 slate}, plus 3 exp's, so I feel pretty invested. I think it's an iconoclast next ;) Thanks for replying !
