Just lovely and, no, I wasn't aware of lichen's role in the forest. I picked up an interesting piece that was next to my car in the parking lot. thought I might sketch it a couple of times. Now I know to put it back when I'm done. I'm loving your work. Thank you for sharing. ❤

I like that, not copying but inspired by... It reminds me of your influence on my stitching, or off excellent early childhood teaching - inspired by others but not copying. Such a rich field for inspiration. Thank you Ariane!

I have liked lichen for ions............love the visual texture of it. And unfortunately, like you, YEARS I have brought some home and it is in my Studio, or pieces of bark that have fallen off of a tree....that have lichen on it. I guess I won't be doing that anymore. I thought it was as dead as the bark that it was on. Lesson learned. Still gorgeous. I will enjoy what it is that I have but not give it any "friends". BTW............lovely lovely piece.........great interpretation. Blessings

Oh Alice, I hear you. I actually felt horrified when I learned. So much so that I went to take a shower and forgot to remove my glasses and wondered why everything got so blurry and steamy before realizing. Then I proceeded to wash my hair with body gel and couldn’t figure out why my hair felt so different, then found my glasses and saw my mistake! Hence this video, it is my mea culpa, but also my way of attempting to right a wrong while forgiving myself for having made an unintentional mistake. Had to do some self love work as well. Seeing all the lovely comments and knowing I’m not alone is also an added plus. I’m sending you hugs and love. 💕

@@ArianeZurcher212 Your experience in the shower has left me in stitches laughing so hard............I guess I really needed a REALLY GOOD laugh. Thanks. YES...........I have brought a lot of treasures from the outside into my home. When I used to go for walks [major knee issues right now.......hopefully might get fixed mid to late December] I'd bring a bag with me just in case I found something "worthy" of keeping in my Studio. Blessings to you......and thanks for being so transparent and helpful to all of us. Now.....go take a better shower............hehehehehehehe.

Ariane, beautiful modeling of getting some corrective feedback, owning it, doing the learning and then being willing to share it out so others can also learn. Appreciate your candor and your courage to admit your mistake. And way to make it into a beautiful piece! 🩵

The scraggly one is old man's beard. It can be turned into fabric dye. It prefers the tops of trees and in clear air. The north american version, if its on the ground and not on a fallen log, odds are its dead Jim. I found one still attached to a stick and put it in the garden. I'm fine not knowing if its dead or alive. But if you find them, you CAN make something out of them other than the lichen itself. But the lichen enthusiasts I asked about it on Reddit said if its on the ground and not on a log, its probably dead.That said, I do not know about south america. Just the north american version.
@ArianeZurcher212Ай бұрын
Thanks for the info. For what it's worth: I contacted the US Forest Service and they say that all lichen, both in South and North America can appear dead on the ground but may still be alive.
