Oh, you have been through so much. Death does forces us to face our mortality.. I forces us to take stock our, mortality and the ones we love especially in this insane world. I remember when my husband died, I went to a very dark place, I did not know who I was. I also had to figure out what I wanted,to do. I decided to take a watercolor class . It so good to see you! I-have missed you Your abstract piece is interesting. I love it when you discuss your creative process. Please continue to keep us updated. We are here for you. I am certain you are surrounded by love and support. I send you my love.

What we all need right now is a calming voice and diversions from the chaos in the world. What you do and who you are, along with your gift of creativity, helps all of us who seek solace in the arts and crafts world. Working with one's hands, whether a craftsman, sculpturist, embroiderer, sewist, gardener, etc. is a proven way to lower blood pressure, ease a troubled mind and focus only on the moment. When we wake each day, we are bombarded by the media with reasons why we should be "outraged." You, along with all artists who share a few minutes bringing us into their world are "escape rooms." You had much grief to deal with, and you took the time to heal. You were missed.

I must say you have been really missed. I learned and continue to learn so much from you not only about stitching but about life lessons. I don’t know if you know but I retired a year ago after having been a registered nurse for 46 years and I process death, very matter-of-factly. And I think it’s because I have seen thousands of people die during my career as an intensive care and emergency room nurse and even as a labor and delivery nurse they were a couple of deaths maybe the other thing of why I handle death easier is because of my faith in God, I firmly believe that after we leave this mortal life, we return to him. And that gives me great comfort. maybe it’s not thousands, but hundreds. Take care my friend and it’s so good to see you back stitching.

How absolutely wonderful to hear from you Ariane. I've been worried about you, and wondering how Richard's recovery is going. The intense symbolism of what you're doing with your art is just stunning! Parts of your life, parts of who you are, have been cut away, violently and permanently, and here you are stitching the tapestry of your life back together, making the gaping holes into art, making this tapestry more than it was before, more beautiful, more meaningful. I love the idea of floating some of the pieces just over the canvas - rather like our loved ones continue to hover around our inner life, even when they're gone, they're out of reach physically, but they're still very much a part of us. I have a suspicion this piece may end up being some of the most important art you've ever made. Is it odd that I'm happy for you? proud of you? Sending you so much love.

Ariana, I am so sorry for all the heart ache you have been suffering over. I somewhat know what you are experiencing as I am on year 6 of the lose of my daughter and 2 granddaughters, not that they have passed but my daughter decided I was not someone she wanted to associate with. Even harder than mourning the death of loved ones is mourning the lose of loved ones that are still here. I struggle to be consistent with my creative endeavors but find it to be the most therapeutic process. Best to you and thank you for sharing you and your talent.

Absent from "On The Other Hand" but not absent-absent. You look marvelous. A sight for sore eyes. I understand totally what you went through in adding things to your piece and knowing what was right and what was wrong. There were LONG times..........a LONG stretch of time during COVID [and our Kitty died in 3/20 and my Mamma dying in 8/20] where I could NOT go into my Studio because I didn't want to bring any negative vibes into that Sanctuary. So adding the wrong things to your piece is somewhat the same thing. I went back in REALLY creating in Dec 22 and it's been a great and glorious roller coaster ride ever since. Your departure into baking is gobsmacking!!!!!!! so talented. You do know that whatever you put your hands to is going to be a success, because you are a Creative and you need to express yourself in some kind of outlet.........."we" Creatives need that outlet and we WILL find it somewhere, somehow. And express you surely have!!!!!!! KUDOS to you for working your way through what life has thrown your way..........and continuing to "make" [and not remain stagnant] as a way of not only self expression, but a way to healing. Thanks for sharing..........it unites us all in our similar walks and is a HUGE encouragement to us as we continue to continue. Your piece is stunning and I really loved watching and listening to you work through the process once again. You are sooooooo welcomed back. Blessings to you, Ariane.

How lovely to see you back Ariane and stitching your big piece. It might be a little figurative but for me. I’m seeing the canvas from a long way back, I see a little girl (top middle). She’s standing in the middle of all the chaos that has been the last few years. It seems her hands are waving the chaos around. Well that’s my interpretation. I love seeing the yellow sunlight beginning to poke through in the canvas and the golden threads start to re weave life into a more coherent new whole. I enjoyed seeing the travel photos on Instagram in your absence. I hope hubby is also well healed now. You’ve had quite the journey. ❤

Thank you SO much for this Mary, because I do all kinds of things when I'm working on a piece and I don't really think about the fact that for some people this might be something they've not done before and so a video about cutting the fabric away would be a good thing for me to create. I've made a note of it and will try to remember to demonstrate how I do that, though I do show some one way I cut the fabric out in this video at around the 8 minute mark and then stitched, but in the other two I stitched first and then cut the fabric away. There are pros and cons to each method. If I make a video, I'll be sure to include both and which one I prefer.
