Thanks so much for the video on low light performance. I don't do a lot of night shooting, but I do shoot early and late in the day and it looks like we may have a solution at least for B Roll .

Yea it’s definitely useable. Maybe not for an entire video but definitely if you need to shoot at night for some sections

When you are riding fast in the day time, what frame rane do you shoot in? Everyone says 4k60 for a proper fluid action video, and then use an ND filter and manual shutter and iso settings to get the proper motion blur. I have an Insta360 One RS 4K Boost lens. What do you suggest?

I still use my Hero 7 - I do prefer the quality out of it, grading in particular. I just hate the reliability. I use royalty free music from Epidemic sound.. not too sure of the track name

Sure it is darker than the competition, but the colors are a lot more natural. It looks like actual night, and that's insane for a 1", 200 bucks action camera. I mean, you could literally shoot a 1st POV movie with this :O Damn

You know you can use longer exposures for up to 1/framerate, right? The 180deg rule has no basis in reality when it comes to digital video recording. There is absolutely nothing preventing you from filming 1/60s at 60fps or 1/25s at 25fps.

what are you talking about? 1/25 would be blured as hell at motion and the others shutter speed then 180 rule could cause flickering from some light sources

@@alfavisionsk 1/25 would be blurred, yes, but that’s just an example. Flickering has nothing to do with the 180 rule, if you get flickering at 60fps 1/60, you will also get flickering at 120fps 1/60

I’m a little confused here. I think you’re referring to frequencies of artificial light in relation to shutter speeds causing flickering? If that’s the case then yes absolutely change the shutter speed. But the 180 degree rule absolutely applies to digital recording. The jittering I was referring to was the feel of 24 frames compared to that of 30 or 60.

In on-film recording cases, you need the half-frame time to physically move the film to the next frame - in, let’s say, 24fps recording you’ll expose one frame for 1/48s the use the remaining 1/48s to move to the next frame. In digital, you can simply expose the frame for 1/24s.

I've tried using 1/framerate to shoot helmet POV and I ended up with smeary mess of a footage, it was almost nauseating to watch. 1/framerate is only suitable for static scene where there's not much motion going on.

Basically no #plates of passing cars are readable and when stopping the video and looking at other passing objects, these are also not sharp. So if you want to see white, red, yellow cars and the fact that you are overall driving through some city street that camera is ok, but if you want to record serious data better pass on that toy.
