Awesome review, Bill! I do see the massive benefits of this type of camera for what we do; having complete freedom to simply switch on and skate would be hugely liberating. Still using a GoPro, I can't tell you how many times I've believed I was capturing good footage only to realise the camera pitch was off and I'd been shooting the ground! I'm still dissuaded by file size and editing. My phone rarely has more than a few gig of free space on it, and I do like to keep all of the footage I shoot, and I imagine shooting 360 all of the time would be costly in terms of space? I'd also have the fear of dropping it as I've seen a few 360s get obliterated by a fall. It's inevitable, I will have one eventually; these things are a game-changer!

Yes, my chopped off head or skates drove me crazy with the GoPro. You will love the 360 cam, there are no angle mistakes with it. Using lens guards at all times is the only way to approach 360 cams. I never save old 360 files on my phone. Everything I like gets put on a hard drive so my phone is free. You will love this camera R!!

Damn, I really have to upgrade. I'm still using the original Insta360 One for my KZbin videos and the difference is enormous, in all aspects. I haven't upgraded before because I didn't like the stitching of the One X and the One R-it actually looked worse. But with the One X2, that issue seems to be solved. And I can still use my sturdy Insta360 One for trickier stuff (it has taken falls from stairs better than I have 😅). Oh, and once again a great video-of course!

Hey Bill!!! I know its been a long time since I engaged... To be blunt, I stopped watching because the stitching (or lens scratch?) of your old camera was unbearable to watch for me and really broke the immersion. I didn't have the heart to say anything, because it felt very petty and insignificant. And cameras aren't cheap. This new one seems to make that line all but disappear and I am excited to once again watch all of your flows the second they drop. Thank you for EVERYTHING you've done for this community. You put me on skates, and you've surely done the same for hundreds of others over the past 8 years on KZbin. THANK YOU!

Thanks for coming back Derek. I've missed your voice! I think the tech was in the development phase for the last few years, I've had my stuggles with 360, but losing the monopod in frame, and never decapitating my image was too much of a draw for me. All previous stitching issues were amplified by protective cases. This new one has a simpler solution so I can stop bleeding money every time I fall. I hope you're having some epic sessions D!!

Hello, Bill. I'm looking into buying a 360 camera and I can't decide what's better: an insta360 one x2 ore one r. One r is modular and you can use it as a regular action camera if needed and one x2 is more affordable. Can you give me some advice on what to buy? I'll mainly be using it for making skating videos but sometimes for taking photos and videos outside of skating. Thank you in advance :)

For the simpler and far better lens guard, and stiff solid one piece construction I give the edge to the X2. I find it has better close up capability too. I like the modular concept of the XR but have never used the other lens.

Hi Bill i always like youre channel i also love to skate i have now also a vr headset oculus quest 2 amazing it really fine can you sometime release a 360° video the only youtuber how is skating is MBommeli see his channel is doing these 360° take sometime from a skatepark or a pumptrack it must be amazing to have a real 360° view from what you're a skating at home and seeing every thing you do like on 11:58 thanks
