Lens cover is not removable. They didn’t learn from GoPro’s mistake.

the reviewers version can take the lens off... retail version cannot. so thats a deal breaker for me. I want a spare lens cover with me in my pack incase that day comes when it gets smashed. I don't want to have to send it back to insta360 and pay for repairs and having to wait and go through the whole RMA process. .... just take out a $20 replacement lens cap and off you go.

I think the fact that this thing shoots at 170Mbps is one of the biggest reasons the image on the Ace looks so good even compared to other 10 bit cameras like the GoPro shooting at a lower bit rate of around 120Mbps but 10bit color. Probably also, the reason we are seeing better a low light performance aside from the larger sensor with the Leica/pro model. Just out of curiosity I definitely want to see the regular model of the Ace compared to the GoPro and other competitors.

Hi Jeven, I have an insta360 one RS. With 4K lens and 360 lens. How does the video quality compare to the one RS with the Leica mod? I was thinking of trying to get hold of the Lecia mod for my one RS because I have lots of accessories (mic adaptor/cold shoe mount/spare batteries/dive case etc) that wouldn’t work with the ace pro. But that lens seems to be hard to come by.

Did you use some extra sharpening in the video without HDR? It looked just weird with the halos around the branches background. Something we used to have in old GoPro footages when sharpening was set too high.

I gave in and bought one. I was not going to, because I have the RS 1 inch Leica wide and the RS 1 inch 360. And most of the time, the RS is a great platform. But, the Ace Pro's low light performance is stellar. The hype is real. It is almost magical. I've tried to get good results out of the RS and my mirrorless gear in low light. Ace Pro gives me better results, in some conditions, than my mirrorless and a f1.2 lens. Welcome to "AI" doing noise reduction and, I bet, something akin to souped up HDR with the over sampled sensor. This is still a new camera to me, but I have a few trips this spring that it'll go on before putting it through its paces on vacation this summer. Thx for the good intro to it.

So many good features and I almost thought about sending my just ordered Action 4 back. BUT, how dumb are product managers by ruining a whole "action" product by not making the lense cover changeable. HOW DUMB!!!! I mean do you learn anything by the GoPro dilemma from the Hero 8...??????? Besides the lense cover, stabilization also seems to be inferior to the GoPro and even Action 4 (seen in a different review). Otherwise it seems to be a good action camera. It almost seems companies are working together by not making the perfect camera always leaving wishes open to the community....

Couldn't see a huge difference between HDR and standard modes. 8K, why? Most people can't afford a 3 grand laptop to go with the camera, to be able to edit it. The flip up screen? Good for vlogging perhaps but, in that case, why do you need an action camera? Strap the thing to an airplane wing, to your motorbike or cayak down a waterfall and good luck with keeping it in good working condition for long. That is what action cameras are for. The toughest and hardest places and thinga you can do. Not for filming yourself waffling about random crap as you walk on dimly lit street.
