The great thing about Instagram specifically as far as exposing you to the shittiest of music, is that the commenters are generally VERY quick to share their unfiltered and emotional opinions with the artist's post. They don't give the artist the ability to be oblivious and delusional about their "fans" being in love with whatever new style is being tried. At least theoretically, I believe that it will (hopefully) increase the quality of all music with the instant feedback. With the consumer's opinions being accessible in real time/nearly instantaneously, record labels will have a harder time forcing an artist to sell out or give up the creative freedom. Back in the day, record sales were the metric of gauging the community's opinions. My point is that bad music should and will be IMMEDIATELY called out by the artist's own community, and that will be hard to ignore. All social media platforms have the potential for that, but Instagram especially is absolutely brutal in the comment sections.

I'm Gen Z, but I remember times when there was a lot of value in discovering artists through blog posts, on Bandcamp, or through word of mouth online/offline. It doesn't happen as often anymore.
