Justin I agree 100%. I'm 34 and my friends and family always say I act like I'm old because I've never had Facebook or Instagram account. I do have a twitter account but I rarely use it. I feel like society and technology has set the new generation up to be awkward and uneasy in real social situations. I've interviewed so many young people and I can see a clear difference in social skills. It's sad and I think some things should be the way they were before with socializing and meeting people face to face.

Justin, I'm so thankful for you. You spoke the truth in this video, in fact you spoke to several truths. People who build a "perfect" façade on Instagram are trying to convince themselves above all others. People who are confident don't do that. Having said that, I've lived long enough to know that everyone is insecure about something. Everyone has tragedy in their lives, EVERYONE. Most people try to hide it and that's too bad because sharing a sorrow can make it easier to bear. Don't be ashamed that your life isn't perfect. You don't do that, Justin. I hope the young people in your audience pay close attention. I believe I'm one of your earliest subscribers and I'm certainly one of your biggest fans. Blessings to you. PS I get so sick of certain ladies in the ATL talking about LABELS. Ladies! When you feel like you've made it, you won't feel like you have to TELL everyone. You don't hear Cynthia talking about labels.

Justinj1232 I subscribed to your channel bc of this video. Here's the thing about social media to me...it reveals that most people don't have a SOCIAL life--no interests, no hobbies, no meaningful, unique experiences. Most of my real friends on FB are only posting about watching Scandal, or going to TGIFriday's, or posting rants about this or that. Where's the interests or past times to enrich your life? When I post about what candidate I would like to see run for President in 2016 or yoga or playing guitar or participating in Meatless Mondays, my posts get the side eye bc I'm not posting about watching Empire or RHOA. I use social media as a way of telling people about my hobbies and interests--nothing more, nothing less. I don't put any of my personal life on social media, period. As for IG, I only follow people/accounts that I can discover new ideas/hobbies from; people who are vegan, who posts books and reviews, Indie music and magazine accounts. I cannot tell you how much new, under-the-radar music and/or Indie magazines I've discovered from IG. This is how I choose to use social media, to enrich my life and make me a more interesting person through discovering new things. All of these stunt kings and queens, I respectfully decline...
@lacebabydoll9 жыл бұрын
I agree with everything you said I always figured social media should be about hobbies and connecting with people who like the same things you do because you might not know people in you immediate area who share the same interest

people are too materialistic and enjoy showing off. I once lived in a cheap/ghetto (for lack of a better word) living community. The other residents were driving brand new luxury cars while I was riding my 1998 honda accord. Today I am sill riding a 1998 honda accord, but it's parked outside of a much MUCH nicer residence. Priorities are what people of my generations lack. I see them cruising around all cute in they new stuff at the beginning of the year, and they are walking by the end of the year, because they were struggling to afford these luxury things and life happened and they couldn't keep up. Now I do love nice things, and I can out shop most, but I also know what a budget is and how to stick to it. While they are struggling to work 50-60 plus hours to show off for their friends, I'm working part time enjoying my college years. I guess it's the way I was raised. The biggest issue I have is with people taking pictures of food. I understand if it's something out of the ordinary that really amazed you or something, other than regular dinner, that you actually made that turned out great, but these whores are taking pictures of their chili's and red lobster plates.....I can go on their website and see the exact same thing...what are you showing me? that you had $19.99 plus tax to go out this weekend?

@goldenbuddafly10 жыл бұрын
I'm glad that you addressed this issue. I've been called "weird" because I don't post my life on IG. I feel that if you are with me when I do what I do & how I do it then that's all the confirmation that I need. If you were not there to experience it with me then you don't need to know. Last week I took down most of my pics & told myself that I was getting back to what's really important in my life. I never really had that much that I wanted the public to know about anyway. Oh yeah, another thing death to these fugly MK bags!!! I never understood the hype & I never will. I personally don't like anything with letters stamped all over it, it takes away from the craftsmanship. Maybe because I'm older I feel this way...I also wore MK clothing in high school so the bags are a joke to me years later. That was not to make anyone feel bad, do what you do its just my personal opinion & observation. What's the saying ...the loudest in the room is usually the weakest...some of these IG posts smh. Anyway, enough of my rambling...Thank you for the vids Justin😘👏👏👏

I CO-SIGN 100%, JustinJ! I have a fake facebook account to connect with certain groups and I do have an IG where I follow comedy accounts (such as yours!) and friends. I do not follow celebrities and these Insta-celebrities because honestly, I don't care. what they do and what they have. I know they have more. I know I may have less. Oh well. I can tell you this, figuring out how they get things is not going to kill me because I am confident in who I am and what my life is about. When you couple people with low-self esteem with social media where it looks like everyone is having fun, living the life with all the accouterments this is where you get people feeling bad about their selves. People need to get some self-esteem, which is the foundation of people's happiness with themselves and others.

Also, Justinj1232 In the event that all is "WELL" with others, we must learn to be comfortable with where we are in life and what we have accomplished. No situation is perfect but sometimes things really are what they seem. You should not feel pressured by another's idealistic life to spend more in a week than you make in a month. You have to let people be people, (the real and the fake) and remain in the turning lane.
