Just to answer some of the common questions here - we will still be making videos from Prague, showing you its beauties and amazing places to visit! But since this happened to us, we wanted to raise awareness these things happened. Also - yes, paying the scammers might have not been the smartest thing to do BUT we were hoping they would take us in, open their doors for us, share more secrets and what they do and how they do it. If they would tell us, we would've more chances to actually take their whole business down. It was worth the shot as our main goal is to help people - whether that means on the streets of Prague (offline) or in the online world. We're working on some exciting new videos and we cannot wait to share them with you, thank you for sticking with us!

This video was stupid. Please don't post these random videos like this. It fall off your path of an honest guide. And turns Into one of those random youtube channels. Next your going to be making videos about how you bought the wrong toothpaste and we'll all be wondering what the hell were watching.
@ruthlessintentions37783 жыл бұрын
There are plenty of other videos on youtube to bring awareness of scams. You chanel is about beautiful Prague and being an honest guide about Prague. Travel to different parts and talk more about the history. Teach something specific to Prague. Go to places to eat and show people what type of food they should try when the borders open and what to eat. At least then your putting money back into the local community where and when tourist cannot at the moment. This is a better way to spend money than to send money to someone you know is scamming you. Go to some more of the tourist areas where now there are not any and show us. This is your time to be a virtual guide.... After all... This chanel is about Prague and you are the honest GUIDE.

Sometimes they use stolen already verified accounts to send these messages to appear more legit. A month ago I got a “copyright violation notice” from an official government account in Argentina. I understand how some less experienced users fall for this. EDIT: If they use a stolen verified account, the scammers have to use the original name instead of some “Instagram support” bs, because otherwise they will lose the verification checkmark. Even when the account is verified, the @ of the account often doesnt have anything to do with instagram, which should raise enough suspicion to not send them anything.

That 50 dollars isn't just wasted in fact the scammer did give something of a value that probably will last a whole lifetime to him. Do not engage with a scammer, especially online. They have no morals whatsoever. While the scammer will probably spend that 50 dollars in a couple of days not knowing that karma will certainly come back to bite them on the ass

I could tell the scammer was Turkish before Grabify due to the "efrndim". The scammer most likely doesn't speak any english and just uses Google Translate. "Efendim" means sir/ma'am in Turkish, but they misspelled it, so Google left it as is. Also, "Ne mutlu Türk'üm diyene" is a quote by the founder of Turkey, Atatürk. It means "How happy is one who calls themself a Turk", and it seriously ticks me off that they disgraced his words for a scam.

Russian numbers are the one among the most popular on a "get an sms verification/registration" services. And +7 is also for Kazakhstan which is also a very popular option. And normally you try to avoid using numbers from your own country, unless it's a integral part of a scheme you're doing. It costs you just a few cents for a number and it's very useful not only for a shady stuff. For example: you don't want Zuck to know your real number and to mess with your data.
