Way to go there Randy. I think what you get in Y and Z axis depends on which one you install first. The Z axis was last one installed on mine so it tilts to the left. Thanks fir the video keep on keeping on.

Morning Randy. I have the same power feed on my mid size Rockwell mill. Three years in zero problems. My one issue is sometimes I need to adjust the feed knob up to get it moving and back it down to slow slow feed. Other than that all good. Nice modification.

I was able to use similar kits to yours on the X- and Z-axes of my Precision Matthews bed style mill so I may give the Y-axis a try using Asian hardware. A thought regarding safety - you might consider a safety ball crank handle such as one sold by Eisen Machinery. They are also available on eBay by other sellers. All are around $40. They don’t engage unless you push it in (similar to Z-axis crank). This could save you a nasty injury if you got caught between the tail of your vise and the crank somehow or, heaven forbid, you snag the crotch of your pants on the rotating handle. Additionally, the ball handles look nice. Thanks for posting.

Randy, I'm not trying to crush your groove, Bubba, 'cause you know I respect your knowledge, but that wacked-out power feed angle would drive me nuts. Have you considered turning the counter bored screw holes in the black mounting ring into slots? At least then you could rotate the unit into a more Zen- like position. Just a thought. Regards, Duck

Great way to do that Randy. I like the idea of doing this. My mill is a 1912 Garvin and it would be a major improvement to have a power feed on the x axis to start with. Thanks for the motivation. ☃️

Frankenmill ; -) Your video will be so helpful to those mounting one of these units. Thanks for posting. I never liked these aftermarket units. The crank handle issues for one. And location of the engagement handle for another. I'm hoping that my system will eliminate both handles. Regards.

I'm wondering why you didn't just turn down your existing shaft to fit the new parts rather than modifying/making them fit your existing (bent) shaft? Anyway, enjoyed the video! 👍 Thanks!
@RRINTHESHOP
@RRINTHESHOP 2 жыл бұрын
I thought about that. But I would of had to tear down the saddle to get the shaft out. Way more work involved. I am sure once I get the shaft removed I would want to make a whole new one for both x and Y and new nuts. Thank you for your comment and thoughts. Merry Christmas.
