Install Helix 7 Fishfinder on a Kayak

Maybe I am missing it but I don't see a link for the 'I go one step further" double ball rod holder track-link. I have tried searching it and can't find it on RAM. Is that a standard product or did you combine/modify other products? Just got into kokanee and your videos are great(still have not caught one...).

Hello Tyler, is there a difference where you put the spring ( up or down ) on a ram mount for a helix 7. Is there more strenght one way or the other..Thank YOu ..Great job as always.

No real strength difference. I generally prefer it to open up on release on the base for ease of removing it at the end of the day.

I just received this transducer mount (thank you for the discount code!) and appears the mounting hole in the transducer doesn’t quite line up flush with the hole in the end of the mount so I can’t attach it. Haven’t found an adapter offered by Ram, are you aware of one? Thanks!

@@spiltmilt It doesn’t appear that the end of the mounting arm is designed to fit the offset portion of the transducer through which the mounting bolt passes. Like an additional adapter is needed. Will keep searching though lol

I’ve had to sand a little bit off the bottom of the Ram mounts arm to get it to fit some Helix fishfinders transducers

How far below the bottom of the Kayak should the level of the transducer be?

You don't need much clearance aside from side imaging just a couple inches

Are you familiar with Navarre Fishing? This guy has a lot of complaints about Old Town kayaks and he sells upgrades and “fixes” that he manufactures, like PDL spacers, a bolt that replaces the rudder pin, a floating prop nut, etc. I’m seeing his parts in a ton of Old Town videos but not yours, so I was wondering if you think it’s just hype.

I got he helix 7 I went with the yak attack mount but it’s not long enough and while I pedal the fish finder gets in the way. Is the ram mount any better?

The ball mount on the RAM allows for infinite adjustability in terms of placement. I have a 6" arm on mine which is enough to bring it close to me so I can reach it .
