Big tip, if you mount the communicator near your breaker box, the electrical current that comes in through the wires to the breaker box will help with the cell signal strength especially if you live in an area where cell service isnt the best. My simon xt is mounted in my garage and right in the same spot of where the simon panel is located is the breaker box for the electricity that is connected for my house and my panel communicates via cellular and i actually took the very long antenna and mounted it above the breaker box and to my surprise it keeps the cell signal strength at a good level. It boosted the panels cell signal strength to only two bars which may not be the best but it beats the heck out of having no cell signal strength especially since i live in a rual area where cell service isnt the best

I have run into a similar situation, but it was a faux cell signal it looked like it was 4 bars but was really one bar, If it is close enough to pick up the ambient frequencies of your electrical box it is close enough to catch a possible arc if a surge or house is struck by lighting.

What about the Vista 50P?

50P is a very basic commercial system. It does not have the logic to communicate over a Cellular or IP communicator over the keypad connection would require a dialer converter like the LTEM-P with the PRODCM. The 50p is not able to use TC2.
