Fixed it just uninstall virtualbox don't worry about live machines being lost. Reinstall it but give it administrator access by right clicking it and running it as an administrator when installing it.

2 questions: Is there any specific reason to chose Ubuntu (64-bit) over Debian (64-bit) or vice versa? How would one increase the storage space on their virtual disk partition after install? Or is it possible to add another disk to the kali instance?

I have a serious problem. I follow through with this video, it works for a few seconds after rebooting, and then a black screen appears. In the storage settings, the IDE showed as Empty even though I did put it on during the beginning phases. I've been restarting the installation process 5 times already.

Go in your PCs BIOS and enable AMD-V. Its allowing virtualisation on your PC. A quick google research should help you
