Great video, helped me fix a couple of small problems with my own installation. Only thing I’d change is to completely remove the helmet liner before installation. It’s easy to do and eliminates having to poke the wires into place under the liner.

I’m curious where you routed the wires to get from outside the shell to inside?

@@diante50 That's the way I had them to begin with. I suppose I could punch a hole for the wires in the neck seal, but I hate to damage it.

Great video, thanks, that helped A LOT! One question, I `am trying to fit the 40mm HD speakers into a Schuberth E1 helmet. The speaker recesses are too shallow, that's one issue but you seem to say the same. But the other issue I have is the speakers once in their recessed areas are too high and a little too far back, as if the helmet is too small (but it's in fact the right size for me). Did you also have problems with this?

I also have an E1 and I found that the speakers pressed against my ears. I switch to the smaller (not Bose) speakers and that helped a bit. The best spot I found was to move them forward and low. I did end up using a Dremel to make some more room. I hope this helps.

@@PacMoto so you needed to make the existing recesses deeper AND expand it down towards the lower edge? That would match to what I need to do too but was wondering if the helmet is the right size. It fits good except those speakers.

I notice you are running the earpad cable around the back. Aren't you meant to run over the inside top of the helmet as I thought this cable also acted as the aerial for the FM radio?

To the best of my knowledge the Cardo earbud cables do not serve as the antenna. If you use the Schuberth com system, I believe it is prewired with the antenna going over the top of the helmet. The Packtalk Bold even has a flip-up antenna on the device itself. Thanks for the comment!

Hi. Very nice video. I've just done the same install on my C3Pro. Now,... looks like I have an issue with the JBL speakers pressing against my ears,... How exactly did you trim the EPS liner in case of your other helmet (what tools / what method)? Also I have found that the boom mic 'holding' brackets are pressing against my left cheek. Have you tried installing the 'other' mic from the Cardo set into a flip up lid? I'm wondering how to overcome this issue, as trimming won't be an option I think... Thank you :)

I also found the JBL speakers added pressure on my ears. I used a Dremel to carve out a bit more room.

Hi Mick, did you end up using a Dremel to carve out a little bit so the JBL speakers will sit more flush? I am not sure if a flat disk sanding bit would work or a grinding stone.

HOLD ON! Do NOT use the Screwdrivers to sort or stuff the wires within the pads slots! at minimum, wooden Popsicle/ crafting stick's or pickup some non marring upholstery removal tools. those screwdrivers are notorious for cutting or poking thru the wires. those can found at your local hobby stores or harbor freight. for the neck roll removal, pull the Back out first, then remove the small pins. reverse on re-installation

It’s a good point and a popsicle stick is a good idea. I wasn’t concerned since there was really no stress on the wires, just simple positioning. Thanks for your comments!

I like your video but in my experience the mounting of the speakers is a bit strange. The earpieces dim the sound of the speakers a lot so i had to cut open a piece out of the part where the speakers are. What is your opinion?

Martin - I think it’s best to modify it as best works for you. I didn’t have a sound dampening issue. My bigger issue is pressure on my ears from the speakers. In one of my helmets I took out some of the material so the speaker wouldn’t bother me. Thanks for the comment!

No, I don’t. The magic is opening the zipper and feeding out the chin strap. For there you could replace it. Keep in mind that the back straps are screwed in at the back of the helmet and not reachable.

I enjoyed the video and it was helpful. I used a chisel that is scooped to relieve some of the styrofoam instead of a Dremel tool for better control. I would recommend not doing the following: 1. pushing wires with a screwdriver but using a Q-tip or something soft. 2. Not clipping the neckband to prevent wires from being pinched from the Packtalk unit. That band needs to be one piece as designed. Fastening without clipping the band doesn't do any damage to the wires that I can see so far. I haven't found an adhesive that bonds well to styrofoam as the speakers dislodge at times and need resetting in place. Does anyone have a solution besides adhesive-backed velcro?

I don’t think so… If I recall the Slim uses a clip rather than adhesive to mount the device. There is no place for a clip on my old E-1 or my new X.Villijord.

Just removed the Shuberth C5 from box , first ride , totally disappointed , the visor is loose and can't stand open even at 40 km/hr speed 😡😡😡😡😡

My last helmet was a Schuberth E-1, I liked it very much. My helmet now is a Nexx X.Villijord. I like the Nexx more because the face shield stays open even in turbulence.

@@PacMoto never had this issue with any other helmet, even the much less expensive LS2 , it's really unfortunate to get this defect from a well known brand like Shuberth
