Excellent instructions & detail. I have an Aprilaire 500. My problem is that the humidistat only operates at the highest setting about 50 & clicks off when I lower the setting & vice versa . My windows were very wet at that setting. I checked everything else which is fine. Is there any way to adjust that without buying a new one? Thank you.

Before I found your site I replaced the solenoid because no water was going to the humidifier. Water is feeding to the solenoid, still no water to the humidifier. The humidistat clicks when I turn it high. Is it possible that it is the humidistat? I was a little confused on how to check it. Thank you in advance for your reply!

Is the solenoid clicking? It can be heard and felt if you can hold it while turning up the humidistat. If no click take the wires off the humidistat and twist them together, if still no click I have taken the solenoid off the humidifier and used it as a tester, with the solenoid in your hand touch the wires on the solenoid to the 24volt transformer. The 24v output on the furnace transformer (while the furnace is running on heat mode) and check for a click. You just checked the solenoid if it clicks or not. If you have any doubt about this procedure don’t take the solenoid into the furnace, please. Blair

So, the selenoid cable conect to the controler and the controler to the furnace?

If the furnace isn’t running on heat mode or the humidistat doesn’t want humidity it won’t run.

Aprilaire 560 I think mine is broke, i had it at 45 and were completely dry... cracked skin here, he mounted it in the living room under the thermonstadt...when it starts theres a click and water but i think it shuts off prematurely..

Run the drain hose into a large bucket and watch the water flow as your furnace runs. You should accumulate at least a 1 quart per hour. If not then there could be a restriction in the flow coming to the solenoid or a clog anywhere else in the line so there’s very little water going through the pad. That would explain it not performing.
