You should put a shut off valve before the solenoid. If the solenoid should stuck open, you can easily just close the air flow

On mine I installed a pressure switch on my dash. They were Kleinn train horns called the beast. I run through mountains so the plastic was perfect for me, because of the salt etc. Anyhow, want them loud? Do what I did. I didn't bother with the air kit that came with them. I plumbed mine up to 3/4 inch air. Measured at 172 DBs. Hah!!!

Does the stuck solenoid of the horn do the same function as in the tank?
@fldlife Жыл бұрын
You mean the city horn? You are not supposed to mess with it because truck by dot law must have a city horn (not too loud ) then the other horn but theoretically can work

And/Or install two solenoids in series for redundancy. I recommend putting a line strainer(the water/plumbing type) in front of the solenoid, and buying spare rebuild kits. Also, (because I have a tendency to make things redundant and sometimes over built.) You could install a normally-open solenoid after the first solenoid, connected to a "kill switch" that when power was applied; would close off your horn air line. Should your horn stick on or the button fails again (btw, is it rated for the current pulled by the solenoid or higher?) You can shut the line closed until you can get off the road, without losing all your air. 😁 But that mentality is all just me and my projects. Great job! Thanks for the video!
