Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you find the content useful. Is there anything specific about Windows 8 that you'd like to see covered in more detail?

I also want to point out that if your system is compatible with Windows 8.1, it should work with Windows 10 as well (and you can still upgrade for free if you use the Windows 8.1 product key) giving you updates until October 2025.

Wow, that's a great point about the upgrade path! For viewers who might not be familiar, Are there any performance differences or unexpected challenges?

It’ll slow down to a halt soon afterward with all the excessive bloat hogging up system resources, I actually downgraded a laptop that came with 10 to 8.1 and was pleasantly surprised by the speed in performance soon afterward
@ckingpro8 ай бұрын
@@adventuresinnostalgia When Windows 10 first came out, the performance was comparable. If you had Windows 8.1 tablet with too little RAM, one of the feature updates to Windows 10 added memory compression which would help here. Newer feature builds may have changed further.

How come the USB creation tool mentions it’s for Windows 7?
@adventuresinnostalgia8 ай бұрын
It's an older version of the tool I was using. Pretty neat, right?

Thanks for the kind words! Did you use Windows 8 back in the day? What are your thoughts on using it compared to more recent versions?
@tibo50788 ай бұрын
@@adventuresinnostalgia I didn't use Windows 8 back in the day, since i was only 3 when it came out. I don't like the start menu, but i fixed that with Open Shell. I like the performance of Windows 8 compared to Windows 10/11 since the ram usage is pretty low and it uses less cpu!

is there a way to install drivers? i think windows update for 8.1 doesnt work anymore
@adventuresinnostalgia4 ай бұрын
You could use NTLite to slipstream drivers into the installation media, or you could use a tool like snappy driver Installer Origin. Do not use the version without "origin" in the title. It contains Malware

There doesn't appear to be a way to get it from Microsoft. I was hoping for an Internet Archive snapshot for the media creation tool for Windows 8 but I was unable to find it
