Installation of Murray's Carbs Coil on Packs on a CX500

I bought a pair of coils from the Far East for £8.50 each via eBay, direct replacements for the old OEM ones. Solved my hot starting problem. I think these in the video are very exposed, look ugly, and easily damaged. Very good, well produced video though, even if (IMHO) the product wasn’t!

Are you running anything special in order to have an antigravity battery? Or just stock charging system works okay?

no you need to change out your regulator for one that is updated and will not over charge your antigravity battery.

No, not at all they come off with the valve covers.

Key the only one that will “fit” is the one that came with your bike. But with modifications many tanks will fit. Mine was a cx custom but modified a cx deluxe tank and my frame to get it to fit.

To replace/upgrade the aging coils. You can sometimes find old stock but your still using 35 year old parts.

I'm looking at maybe buying a Silverwing gl 650. The owner tells my it needs the changing of a Coil pack. Not sure which one is the coil pack in your video? (The doohikie under the seat or the Spark Plug cover?) Any pointers would be appreciated coming from a pro. Cheers!

Cy Lor the dookies under the seat are the old stock coils. I did an upgrade to the coil packs. You can do either. Replace the coils or do the upgrade.

Honestly I don’t care if they work great, they look really ugly!!!, there are better coils replacements on the market and probably cheaper though! (easier to install too)
