Sounds still like DLE170 but deeper. Doubt that your gasket will last. Hope you use some gasket sealer. Eg. SI 569 on Metal part before placing gasket.

silly question, but so far how much noise reduction are you seeing , only one concern would be the extra mass and load on the vibration mount with new exhaust system if the exhaust are fixed to frame and only relying on the flexi section to allow motor movement at lowish range RPM;s . as alway many thanks for posting you seem to be the go to guy for DLE info and tear down guides .. big thanks . still waiting for my unit to turn up :-) Oh to have decent local source LOL :-)

Way lower noise, but I still need to fly it or do a thrust test to determine if the extra weight and cost is worth it. I should get a flight test in early next week. I'll post the video and let you know if there are any issues with the mounts, vibration, weight or anything else that results from the flight test. It's hard to test from the video, but there is a significant lowering of noise. If it makes a difference in thrust, I'll do a decimal test as well to show the difference.

I agree there is too much flex going on, the mufflers should be locked to the engine block. It'll work, until it heats cycles a few times and cracks.

These exhaust are to tunning, or just for reduce noise? Do you are using the chinese split propeller?

They are advertised as tuned exhaust, but I think they are just noise reduction. There is no expansion chamber so I don't see how they can be tuned. I title the video based on how they are marketed from DLE. The will provide a comparison once I get a true set of tuned exhaust. I'm working on that now, but it will be a while before it's ready. There is a huge learning curve with making a tuned exhaust with two heads that attach lol.

@@TexasParasurvival i know you love a challenge lol but Avery got one imported that seemed to have decent gains in both power and noise and semi resonable price . LOL now even Tucker is having a dabble withthese :-) tricky part i guess will be wheater you opt for 2 into one or one tuned exhaust for each cylinder . Cheers

What does the teflon tape do on the flex joint?

I’m not exactly sure lol. The instructions said to apply it so I did. Not sure it does anything useful

how high of RPM are you getting now ?

I had to make some adjustments on the high and low needle. I was only getting 4500 before my last flight. I made an adjustment and got it to 5500 rpm. I'll do another test during the next flight and let you know.
