Installing 128 Rally Gauges into the Fiat Project Car - Part 1

In this video I upgrade my 128 by retrofitting it with gauges from a euro spec 128 Rally. This will add a tachometer as well as water temp and oil pressure gauges. In part two I will continue to wire the new gauges to get them to function properly. I will also include the links to the sending units I used.

Glad to see some progress on it, ngl here in Argentina this series of 128 and the second generation had the same style of basic gauge clusters with only the speedo and the two other gauges but we had our own sporty variants known as IAVA which was an out of factory customizer which gave these plenty of power under the hood and those are the few ones that came with a rev counter, from 1983 and onwards with the introduction of the Super Europa version which was the last facelift, the rev counter was standard so we had three gens of 128, the Berlina which is the one you have, though it's more of a nickname, then the Europa with the square lights and the Super Europa which was the last facelift until 1990 when it was replaced by the Duna/Premio. They're pretty neat and cool cars, still common today.

Nice! With all the mods I made to mine, I never bothered to think of using the European gauges. I used a hokey tach pod mounted on driver side dash along a pillar. Served the purpose but yours looks much better.

There was a 128 pick up for sale in the US a little while ago. I wish I got it.

If U R considering getting 128 pick up maybe U can consider Yugoslavian/Serbian made Zastava 101 Poly. Basicly it should be same car as 128 pick up with few up(down)grades :) Zastava 101 is YU/SRB version of FIAT 128 with 5th door. It was made all the way up to 2007 I think.

That’s exactly where and how I’m doing my 3P oil pressure and amps gauges, except that I had to make my own facia to mount them in. I’m hoping to just swap the oil pressure warning light sender out for the gauge sender, and tap into its cable behind the instrument cluster to extend it to the gauge itself. I guess I’d better watch Part 2 to see if that’s feasible / how you did it. You could probably reuse the original water temperature sender and wiring in a similar fashion but, again, I should probably see your next video to see the pros and cons to that. Great work. Thanks.

Love your Fiat 128 mods and videos! Please keep it up. I would like to do the same to my Fiat 128 (convert gauges to the Rally model) but am not sure where to source the parts and what is needed for the conversion. Please provide links and suggestions as to where I may be able to source such parts. A big thank you! Keep up the great work! Can't wait for Part 2 :)
