Installing 128 Rally Gauges into the Fiat Project Car - Part 2 (wiring)

In this video I wire the euro spec 128 Rally gauges in my American market 128. This will add a tachometer as well as water temp and oil pressure gauges.

My car's nemesis was the seal on the oil pressure sender unit leaking oil. I had a manual switch to turn the cooling fan on and off at the bottom of the dash - so it is a good thing the gauges included a regular temperature gauge on the dash.

I love those Veglia Borletti gauges, they completly tranform the look of the interior. P.S. I guess you already know, but for those who don’t, there is also an oil pressure light on a tachometer, but for that one you will need an oil pressure adapter so you can than conect the regular oil pressure switch, and the sending unit that you already installed (and one more wire).

Hi. Where was your oil pressure sender mounted, please? I’ve just done 99% of an oil pressure gauge installation on my Australian-delivered 128 3P, only to have problems fitting the sender. My oil pressure light switch is on the front of the block, about half way up and half way along. I thought that this is where the sender was meant to go, in place of the switch. Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit there; the sender is too bulbous. I’ve since found out that the senders on some 128 blocks are on the bottom of the front edge, next to the oil filter and under the distributor. Mine is a blank casting; there’s no way I can mount the sender there without drilling and tapping it. Is that where yours is?

I had a 74 Fiat 128 bought off the show room floor in spring of 1974. I loved the car. Sticker price was $2,760. Fun to drive, great gas mileage and was a different beast. Would buy one today to play with but as you said, you never see them. I collect pics on my phone of mint condition ones, there's a few out there. Great memories of my 128.
