Installing a 10' Android headunit in a Nissan X-Trail T30

In this video, we're installing an Android head unit in a Nissan X-Trail T30.

The wiring adaptor doesn't include the plug for the steering wheel controls. I connected those three wires by using 2.8mm plug pins.

Looks great man. Did you have to worry about the old sat nav cables or connections or did you simply disconnect and ignore?

Thanks. The sat nav cables and connectors are just tucked away behind the dash, no problems with doing that, the plugs are isolated so they don’t touch any grounds and the car doesn’t know about it.

Hi, I bought it from an online scrap yard RRR.lt The new faceplate is a OEM single din radio fascia

Was wondering if you can help I've got the non nav fascia and stripped it all out tonight but looks like my new double din stereo doesn't fit in the hole... its too small did you need to make a bracket

I used the brackets that came with the unit. I had to drill a new hole in them to fit the Nissan dash. My unit also seems a little bit too small, but the screen covers it up nicely. You might need a radio trim around the radio

@@johnsheppard7809 My radio came with the a standard ISO plug. I had to order separately this Nissan to ISO harness. www.ebay.com/itm/171852377172 Before it arrived I wired the plugs up using the pins from this kit www.ebay.com/itm/373628278005?hash=item56fdfb14f5:g:XdIAAOSwCfdg1tCB If you have steering wheel controls you’ll still have to wire them using the pins, couldn’t find a plug for the steering wheel controls.

I've had a play today and whilst the project of this for me is ongoing I've plugged the old radio back in for the weekend but left the sat nav out... no signal at all on the fm radio any ideas? As far as I could remember it was the black antenna not the red one as that's for the sat nav, which one did you use for the fm radio? As there's 3 1 black 1 black and red and then one female one

The buttons on the wheel are factory. They are meant both for the radio and cruise control.

Could you still use the old faceplate if you wanted?

The original faceplate was meant for a single din unit. The one I installed is meant for a double din. I couldn’t put back the OEM unit if I wanted to.

If I remember correctly, these Nissans don’t use codes, they need the correct security signal to be able to work.

Some of the connectors won’t be used, especially the old navigation ones. I tucked them behind the wires, so that they don’t rattle against the dash and left them alone.

Yes, they have a dimmer option and you can turn of the screen off completely

Does the controller on the steering wheel works with the new radio?

Yes, the radio buttons work with the android stereo, they can be programmed to do a lot of commands. Only thing I couldn’t find a adapter for the OEM plug, that’s why I used the universal plug pins to make a connection.

@@japhethpeter8288 I used pins from a connector wiring kit to connect wires from the OEM plug to the android head unit. Since I can't add pictures here, I made a community post explaining the connections with the service manual diagrams.
