Job turned out nice and you were able to keep the minimum 2' separation between the existing and new pipe. And yes, you are correct about the pipe materials. Longevity wise, if they wanted to stick to metal pipe, it should have been aluminized, type 2 coated metal pipe instead of galvanized. And they might regret not taking out the old pipe if the bottom is already rusted out...
@eliteearthworksllc3 жыл бұрын

@@eliteearthworksllc It's actually a minimum separation of 2' between duel culverts for 24" diameter and larger to allow for proper compaction. In the contract if they don't want to do it the way I see as the proper way to do it i put that in the contract and make them sign it releasing me from any and all liability. By putting that in writing it generally changes their minds to see it my way and end up doing it my way. @eliteearthworksllc3 жыл бұрын
Cool I’ll have to check that out
@davidnull55903 жыл бұрын
That looked like an engineered-arch shape, I can't really tell from this video, and I can only guess at the dimensions, If it is 53" x 41" arch. the round pipe equivalent is a 48 inch round pipe. The arch pipes don't need much cover, one foot is the minimum. So if the arch pipe were to be replaced, it needs a replacement pipe larger than 48 inches. big freaking pipe, and expensive and usually special order in double-wall plastic. If the original (inadequate) culvert pipe was equivalent to a 48 inch round pipe --- to get the same volume of water --- you would need to install ***3.2*** 30 inch culvert pipes Or, ***2.1*** 36 inch culvert pipes. All of this is just math and equations, you can't cheat physics. Here's the equation, everyone uses an on-line calculator instead. How do you calculate flow rate through a pipe? is the volume of fluid per unit time flowing past a point the area A. Here the shaded cylinder of fluid flows past point P in a uniform in time t. The volume of the cylinder is Ad and the average is ¯¯¯v=d/t v ¯ = d / t so that the is Q=Ad/t=A¯¯¯v Q = Ad / t = A v ¯ . I'm still wondering what the other guy was there for? Brandon does the work, his dad supervises Brandon, what does the third guy do? And why the backhoe? Tradition? Thanks Brandon for the video. And many times your voiceover is very helpful and better than the camera audio.

If the pipe does not work good it becomes pay me now or pay me again for the correct stuff.

Exactly it’s tough to explain that to some people lol

There are plenty of places where I think plastic is a bad idea. This is not one of those places. In fact I think you'd be a fool not to use plastic here. And an extra fool not to replace the existing pipe that's starting to egg out while you've got the road torn up. Not like it would have added an enormous amount to the job in either time or materials.

That’s exactly how I thought you were so close why not do it 🤷🏼♂️

I pay $13.00 a month so I don't have to see ads. I don't know what that does for you but I assume you get a little of it. I don't watch TV. I don't even have TV. I gave up on it because it was all commercials. The ad free youtube is a lot cheaper than cable service.
@eliteearthworksllc3 жыл бұрын
Good deal! I agree that’s all tv turned into was commercials.

Double wall plastic pipe is stronger and will outlast both those pipes, village full of over educated idiots trying to tell somebody else how to do what they are professionals at. Try that with them at their office and see how it works out lol
