Good work by a true craftsman. Did you have a chance to quantify your work and efforts by doing a dump run before and after? That's an awful lot of effort and time. I wonder what sort of gains it brought you.

Well Martin, looks like this is on my to do list before I start on my stroker build. I have a couple of the newer intake manifolds and power steering brackets in the garage, still need to pull the pumps and swap out pully's. Thinking of picking up the Harbor Freight mini mill for some of the simple machining stuff as I don't have a drill press yet... 2 birds I guess.

Hi Martin: Just found your channel a couple weeks ago and now I watch you every nite. Yours is by far the best channel on repairs on KZbin. I watched ur video on fuel injectors and was thinking about trying ( I have a 96 ZJ 4.0L) the Denso 12 hole injectors. What vehicles can I find these on at the "JUNK YARD" ? Thank You again for the best videos, keep up the good work.

Wow, thanks, I would recommend the Bosch 280156161 12 hole injectors from the Ford eco boost engines found in their compact cars like the Focus but you will need to change the connectors to the EV6 style.

@@martinbuilt Thank You. In a couple wks am going to try the local "U Pick" and see if I can find those Bosch 280156161 12 hole injectors. Here is a tip you might pass on. Why can I find so much after market parts and stuff for my beloved jeep but when it comes to throttle bodies it is slim pickins? I would buy this so hard, I am tempted to make it too but I don't have nearly the same amount of tools and would be doing it on my apartment patio which is far from ideal in so many ways... I really want a 68mm too the only one people seem to offer is 62mm which is nothing more than a ported factory throttle body, which I have doubts about there being much if any air improvement, since you cant port the valve portion... ugh.

What size throttle body should I put on my 03 Grand Cherokee stock 4.0 along with upgraded 12 hole injectors? Should.I upgrade coils/plugs or anything else? I do already have a K&N air filter as well!

I would recommend the stock size to 60mm unless you start to make exhaust upgrades (header, hi-flow cat, cat-back exhaust) you could go up to 68 but, a 62 would work great.

LS1 Throttle Body bolts on 4.0L
@martinbuilt7 жыл бұрын
abdulrhman saleh if you're asking if you can put an LS1 throttle body on the 4.0 I think it's possible. the LS1 is very large at 75 millimeters. the problem would be that you're going to run into the throttle body bolt holes on the intake manifold. you would probably have to weld an aluminum adapter plate directly to the intake manifold

So now that you've had this mod in your jeep for a while, have you noticed a jump in horsepower?
@martinbuilt10 жыл бұрын
Arthur, I wouldn't say there was a jump in HP. I think it is something you would have to put on a dyno before and after to see the difference. I think this mod is best suited for a highly modified 4.0 or best yet a stroker 4.5 and larger. I haven't seen any ill affix from this mod and this throttle body is here to say.

Why run a 68mm throttle body on a pre 99 style intake manifold? The manifold is the bigger bottle neck and swapping in a 99+ manifold is a much simpler modification.

I have a few issues with my 4.0l such as a few minor oil leaks and when accelerating my ac/heat will transition to the floor or defrost for a few seconds and then return back to the front vents.. The very first problem that I considered was a vacuum leak but I can't find it.. Any suggestions?? Thanks for the reply..

@scoobydoo22059 жыл бұрын
why is this not a good idea for a stock 4.0?
@martinbuilt9 жыл бұрын
+Scooby Doo It would be like installing a hi lift camshaft on a stock engine without making any other changes. If your going to install a large throttle body then you need to address other parts of the engine as well, like cold air intake, free flow cat, free flow exhaust, port matching, bigger valves, etc.
@joshnazario779210 жыл бұрын
So have you noticed any differences?

A little to early to tell yet. I have run one tank of gas threw it so far. Got 15.2 mpg. Is down by about 3 or 4ths. But I was having some fun with it, so that could be that. It does sound nice.

@zacharyjobe57794 жыл бұрын
@@martinbuilt Yeah, I have a different idle air control on my '93. It makes a 90 degree bend for a male style harness. I'll let you know how it goes when completed.
