Gotta give Ford credit on this one... ex-wifes 97 F150 had a 50 cent piece diameter hole straight for driver floor directly to bay. Just had to pull the floor mat up. Made wiring my KC Hilites a piece of cake 20 years ago

Does the distribution block take the spot of putting the t in the bov line
@JustinKelly2 жыл бұрын
Explain further? Take the spot as in running through the firewall or in the dash? There is still room for running the line in both places even with the distribution block in place.

Hi Justin Where is the best place to connect the vac/boost line I have a throttle body spacer will this give me the perfect reading if I tap into the throttle body spacer ?
@JustinKelly3 жыл бұрын
I believe that would work ok
@Meniodakis3 жыл бұрын
Hello Justin we managed to install the boost gauge not sure if I did the wrong thing but my gauge on reads boost and no vac as I was unsure the pressure sensor will fit on the throttle body spacer or if it was a good idea to put it on so we ended up tapping into a existing thread off the right alloy intercooler pipe where the bov sits on
@JustinKelly3 жыл бұрын
If its not reading vac (and the gauge is supposed to) then something isnt right. It should read vac at idle (-18psi ish) and go to boost on throttle.
@Meniodakis3 жыл бұрын
Yeah so what’s happened where we installed it there’s no vac but I have a spare gauge which uses the same pressure sensor and cable which on reads boost I’m thinking just to swap it over

Hey man another great video. Any thoughts on buying the i30N/Veloster N gauge cluster and installing?
@JustinKelly4 жыл бұрын
That is something that has crossed my mind but I dont have much confidence it'll work 100%. Also the mileage is stored in the gauge cluster so if it doesn't match the ECU then there may be problems at the dealer and such. I would love the RPM lights! You would have a get the I30N one because the Veloster N has a different design.

How did you run the cable from the boost gauge within the vent? Is there a slit where it can go down into the pedals?
@JustinKelly4 жыл бұрын
Yes there is a gap all the way around the plastic tubing which ends close to the dash. You will see once the vent is out from the dash. I ran it to the side as it needed to go to the distribution block I added.

Hi mate does this involve any drilling in the body for then gauge install. And does the gauge wire up to the factory harness ? One thing I don’t wanna mess with ?
@JustinKelly3 жыл бұрын
No drilling and it taps into the switch panel next to the driver for illumination. The boost reading comes from the sender in the engine bay which goes through the firewall.

Why do stock cars have a guage stock with no tune?
@Rancid_Sanity3 жыл бұрын
@@JustinKelly they only have stock gouges for things that you still need to know without a tune like rpm and mph but why do you need to know the boost if nothing has changed?
@JustinKelly3 жыл бұрын
@@Rancid_Sanity Not true. Many stock from factory cars have Boost Gauges. Whether physical or digital.
@Rancid_Sanity3 жыл бұрын
My question is still the same and I'm just curious what do you learn or need to know that a boost gauge tells you? See when I change to different map on my tune I can look and see what the boost is doing on the map and how it affects different things but if you don't have the ability to change anything what is the point in knowing it?
@JustinKelly3 жыл бұрын
@@Rancid_Sanity It is visual information. It shows if the car is running properly (if you are having EBCS issues, boost leak, or other) and also you can associate boost levels to not only seasonal temperature changes (Yes peak boost changes by 3-4psi from hot summer to cold winter on stock map) but also whatever else you feel like. Paired to a BOV you can hear to can see how everything works as a whole system. If you really care enough why they are installed on stock cars, you should ask all the OEM's that include them too.

How much boost does the car run? Would of been nice a video clip of the gauge in action. I assume next mod is a chip for more boost.. reason to have the gauge. Great tutorial nonetheless.
@JustinKelly4 жыл бұрын
I will make sure to upload a clip of the gauge working in a coming video. I have seen between 15-17psi of peak boost on this gauge. I see closer to 15psi more than 17psi.
