Just had mine break at the top snout. Thought about getting the all aluminum one, but glad I didn't after seeing this video. _FMG_

I ended up having to return that cold case. After a year it had a small hole in it. Stick with stock or find one better then cold case.

My 17 ss forged fully built motor and turbo build. Literally my performance shop he is very good & honest at what he does. I believe that after 40k in upgrades I didn't mind a couple more buck for a cold case which I didn't mind at all. But he is so honest he turned me away from 4 or 5 products that I wanted. One of those products was the cold case. He told me yes better as in full aluminum. But not as efficient and doesn't cool the car better them oem one. And that's with 1500hp. So I see what you mean about buy this one time and forget. But I have heard horror stories about the cold case after he told me not to get it. But hopefully it works out for you bro. It looks sick af

The cold case works but too much of a hassle for the cost of it. Honestly i think it keeps my temp the same as the oem one. Just looks better lol

@@Moe_Nation yeh that's what my guy said. So he steered me away from it. But honestly I live the way it looks so much lol

You can probably add oil cooler lines and run them to the cooler on the cold case. My oil runs about 220 - 230 degrees F, but I’m running a Magnusson supercharger

The hose few off because the radiator neck lip broke off its most likely inside the hose on its way to the motor and the thermostat if you didn't find it anywhere.. Time to replace or put double clamps on... the screw kind not the pressure ones

I'm thinking it fell off somewhere on the road. Ive check inside the water pump and the hose.

Push the tabs down onto the cooling fan tabs and problem fixed . Another issue they did have is sometimes the lower neck on the radiator isnt angled right .

I read about the lower neck issue as well. Glad I didnt have that one.

@@Moe_Nation had the neck cut , turned , then rewelded it . Yea it does suck that an upgraded much more expensive radiator would not be a direct fit

Stock ones are engineered to last. Many cold case with that intake had to notch out the bottom so it wouldn't melt, so not only do you have to fab the fans to fit to not rattle you'll have to get a different intake. Not sure what the hype of the cold case is... Aluminum will always get hotter than a plastic one

Did you have to change the fittings for the transmission?

Yeah I actually found a video right after this on someone elses g8 that did the same thing. Weird how that happens
@teddiepegues32613 жыл бұрын
I had to replace the one on my g8 week after I got It my stock radiator had the same broken tip.. put in a cold case and cap was kinda weird but fit.. where the clips are you’re supposed to just press down the metal tabs onto the plastic tabs with a flat head or something and it won’t budge but I’ve had it for a year and a half and it’s been straight but I know that tip won’t break lmao 😂
@wcoffee19793 жыл бұрын
thanks for posting this, I was gonna do the same 'upgrade'. I believe the part # for the cold case is LMP5005A. Do you have the part number for a cap that will work with it?
@Moe_Nation3 жыл бұрын
For the cap i dont. I think i just got lucky with the cap because it didn’t make my stock one. But i think i can call autozone have them look up which one i bought.

I’m pretty sure Only 1 fan runs when it’s hot but if you put your a/c on then both fans will run
@Moe_Nation3 жыл бұрын
From what I notice both run at the same time but at a low speed. once you put the ac on or it heats up to around 210 they both kick into a high speed.
